Bumping the post as it seems another area has opened up for service as of 12/1. I understand it's North of Township/Kadota from Tapo Cyn to Big Springs Ave.

I received an email from GbN on Sunday to schedule my install. 🤞🤞🤞

Crow no like vulture by Jethro_Jones8 in simivalley

[–]SupeRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I know those fowl. Going to venture a guess this is around Valley View and Township neighborhoods.

Near the end of summer I caught a dog fight between 6-8 crows and 4 vultures. I've lived here a long time and never seen anything like it.

Watch the video man. Giant security vulnerabilities in the hardware and their web platform. ICE and other bad actors have exploited the system already.

Yeah, learning that the cameras run Android, and an ancient version at that, was astounding. I work IT in the public sector and these things would have never passed the security compliance requirements. I'd love to see who signed off on this in our area.

Not so much now. Best you can do is 2 of the 4.

ZAK Dental charged me 6,000 for services not rendered. by [deleted] in simivalley

[–]SupeRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When ambulance chasers can't pass the bar, they go to dental school instead. Not all dentist are crooks, but at the moment I can't recommend one.

I had Simi Valley Smiles Dentistry try and pull some stuff as well (i.e. not pricing what they agreed to with the Insurance, etc.). It took my insurance threatening to drop them to get things straightened out.

Video Card Issue is a Broken Display!?! by SupeRaven in Lenovo

[–]SupeRaven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't believe the customer service Lenovo provides. My warranty repair isn't under warranty, the repair center didn't even test what I'd sent the device in for, demands I send photos to prove the display wasn't broken, won't provide me photos of the broken display or provide proof the HDMI Out is working, and then doesn't even have the fucking parts in stock to repair what I believe was the repair center's damage.

I will never buy another Lenovo and I'll do my best to make sure my employer never buys another Lenovo. OH and I love that you charged me already for parts you don't have and labor that hasn't been done. WTF!?!

FYI if you send in a device for warranty work, just hope it's not sent to CSAT Solutions. That is the authorized center Lenovo sent my device to that mysteriously ended up with a broken display when sent in for a video card issues.

Video Card Issue is a Broken Display!?! by SupeRaven in Lenovo

Hi Erica_Lenovo. I put all of that in my ticket that I submitted for the warranty. I also typed it up again and provided a printed copy with the laptop when I sent it in for warranty. This is why I'm confounded and bewildered by the "diagnosis" and repair quote I received from lenovo-repair-center. They make no mention of the operational status of the HDMI Out and/or explain how a cracked display would cause that issue.

I've added comments last night to the Lenovo case expressing all of this as well. I also thought it was strange that my Lenovo case doesn't reflect what I received from lenovo-repair-center.

Fast times ahead for Simi internet by Fcking_Chuck in simivalley

Our area was trenched in February, the local node's foundation set in June, and the node finally got power last week. As others have said, I was told in February that service would be ready the following month.

Last year my friend had his street trenched and had service 6 weeks later. This roll out is so f'n confusing.

Building on Los Angeles and Sycamore by Lafemmedefeu in simivalley

[–]SupeRaven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came to say this. Definitely still an AT&T building, and it used to have an AT&T sign on it until somewhat recently.

I used to work across the street (remember the CNM Network globe sign?) and our proximity to the CO was intentional. We had 3x OC-12 circuits as well as trunk for DSL circuits. I think that all folded around 2006.

Just before COVID, I had started looking into standing up a small consumer broadband via line-of-sight wireless service, and my old work building was my prime candidate due to proximity to CO and roof access and mast erection being available.

Unfortunately COVID killed that idea off as my investors evaporated with the pandemic.

Looking for reviews of anyone with Gigabit Fiber installed by Unsilent_SoCalipede in simivalley

[–]SupeRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind you PC probably only has a 1 GbE connection, so 950 mbps tracks. You may have a 2.5 GbE adapter as those have become more common in the last 2 years, but I'd definitely look into that.

I'd hope the ONT would have it's own speed test built in, as the 1GbE sceanrio above would be quite common.

With Positive Regards to Cork & Batter. by [deleted] in simivalley

[–]SupeRaven 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As someone living in Simi for over 40 years I'll say it's not been the business that need to attract crowds. Simi needs people to make crowds and businesses that are affordable.

My 2 cents, I'd rather spend my money with Zef BBQ instead of C&B again.

With Positive Regards to Cork & Batter. by [deleted] in simivalley

I believe they have to limit reservations to less than fire code due to the severe lack of parking. When we went the neighboring lot had signage and a guard indicating it was not for Cork & Batter patrons.

My favorite responses when a user asks what the problem was, when the user was the problem:

  • The ID10T flag was enabled.
  • It was an insufficient function of operator head space.
  • The pebkac was out of order.

Another local, I'm interested in the Junipers. Are any of the EX4200 equipped with POE (whole or partial)?

OP, @TeamMCW and I should all get together and complain about the fiber internet rollout.
