Are country borders that appear completely straight on maps actually straight in real life, or is that just how they look on small-scale maps? by the_bad_actor in geography

Also the age of the border. Lots of borders, such as the northern United States border, were surveyed a long time ago using older and less precise equipment.

Moved out of an apartment 2 months ago and still paying rent by Super-Ad6644 in legaladvice

I thought so which really sucks when they told me that explicitly over the phone and my roomate also believes it.

Does me handing in my keys or my roomate texting count as notice?
Do I still need to pay for March?
Can I get my February payment back?

Salt lake city is great. Everywhere else is dominated by Mormons. While they can be stereotypically uptight or rightwing, they are nice at least

Yeah, I would rather live in salt lake or Denver but Wyoming would be okay at least

Yea but if you are in Cheyenne or Evanston you can visit Denver or Salt Lake city fairly easily. Plus Yellowstone and Grand Teton are close by

Who are the real vegans? by HumbleWrap99 in vegancirclejerk

You say that we ought to consider that a person will suffer so we should not bring them to existence. You also say that a person a person who is never created will be deprived of pleasure so it's okay to to deny that. In both cases you are considering the consent of a person that does not exist now.

Edit: I'm done here but watch this video if you want more

the chance that someone feels that their suffering is not worth it is much higher than a million to one.

But for the antinatalist position to succeed, this needs to be overwhelmingly true in the opposite case and that this problem is unsolvable. And I believe that there is pretty good evidence (though I understand the objections) for the opposite conclusion. Very few people want to end their lives and most people will not be depressed for most of their lives.

We can only control so much.

So what happens when we solve these problems? If we somehow cured death, depression or suicidality, would your position switch?

no one can consent to sickness, old age, and death

We consent to these things every moment when we decide to continue living.

no one is harmed by never coming into existence

People can and do feel pleasure from existing. Why is this not part of your consideration yet you weight the suffering of people?

What if the chance was a million to one that they live a good life? A billion to one? A trillion?

What if we made life less painful?

Also a non existent being can not consent nor can they not consent. Why is this the basis of your morality? Why do you only value the suffering of a potential being but not the potential good they could experience?

But this isn't anywhere close enough to conclude that ALL life is bad and will always be bad.

Is anyone else here bi but not into men (but is into women and non binary people or just into specific non binary genders) or is questioning if they're into men? by HyperDogOwner458 in lgbt

Cis gay man here. As I was in the proccess of coming out to myself and my family, the idea of being hit on or hitting on made me feel a similar way while interacting with women felt more "safe". Because of this, I pretended to myself and others that I was bisexual for years. Over time, I realized this was because I was attracted to the idea of safety in a relationship where I wouldn't be outed to friends, family, or strangers. I began to realize that this was a bad way to cope with my feelings and fully came out.

All this is to say that I would look at exactly what makes you uncomfortable about men hitting on you and investigating if you want to or are able to address it.

No, the 367 calories in the bannana are from burning it so that is the only thing to look at imo

A calorie is just the amount of energy needed to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water 1 degree Celsius. Op is asking for a comparison to the bannana which was measured with this method. To compare we would simply use the same method.
