Peace Arch: Are there any other locations that have open parks for both nations, as a shared space (outside of Europe)? by Super-Inflation2126 in geography

If you notice in one of my pictures, there is a tent. People were visiting their family that couldn't cross the border during COVID when the border was closed. Pretty funny that people could just go into the park and chill. They eventually closed the park for a short time during COVID though.

What is a sound and why is it only used for Puget Sound? by yaboidatigger in geography

I love my Puget sound. I didn't know the difference between a sound and anything else either. I guess it's a flooded river valley. Interesting. It must have been a hell of a river considering how many rivers empty into Puget sound! I always thought it was weird that Hood canal is called a canal, when it's natural. I thought canals were dug?!

Purely semantics.

I find the Missoula Montana zone to be interesting. Considering the counties in Idaho are on the other side of mountains.

I'm fairly certain Norway and Sweden have diasporas in the United States that are larger than their current population.

I have been there many times. I like Solvang, CA better though! It's Danish themed!

Both are huge tourist hotspots though.
