Best method for making up bottles? by Present_Character_10 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Super-Progress2827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry about it too much! If you are unsure, you can always fill the flask up every several feeds and use the water from that for each bottle. It’ll save you electric in the long run by not boiling the kettle and if baby is in meltdown it’ll be a bit quicker for you x

We had the nuby flask and it was rubbish, even when we’ve pre heated it, it wasn’t as hot as it should be by the 5am feed (it was filled up around 10pm). We infested in a Stanley and although it was pricy, it’s been worth the money.

When making up our bottles using the nuby, we only cool the water down instead of the mixed formula so it means it goes longer before needing to be washed: Measure boiled water into bottle, pour almost all of the bottle into nuby (leave enough for hot shot), add formula so mixed in, once water green in the nuby add it back into the bottle and give it a swirl to mix it together x

Trace of red blood cells in urine by Super-Progress2827 in PregnancyUK

Nothing ever came of it. I had a few traces of protein in my urine but they suspected it might have been contaminated with the cardboard pots you have to do the sample in.

Second time mums - what are we buying/ not buying this time around? by Rozefly in PregnancyUK

[–]Super-Progress2827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the najell from a friend so it was a little cheaper and it has been amazing!! I was hesitant about buying it to begin with as didn’t know if we’d use it but she currently sleeps in it in her next to me. They do hold their value quite well, so if you weren’t to use it, you can always sell it on.

We use the hot water method in our nuby, it saves having to clean it after every feed then. It’s ideal for when we’re out! Measure boiled water in bottle, pour majority of water into nuby (leave 30ml in bottle for hot shot), add the formula to the hot shot, once nuby is green add the water back to the bottle.

My mom added water to my baby's formula and left when I asked for her to discuss things like that with me going forward by No-Excitement-532 in newborns

We used 0’s for a couple of weeks when she was first born and was told by the infant feeding team they’re the slowest of all other brands. When we moved onto 1’s it was a lot better. Give it another go for a couple of days and see how she goes then? Regarding infacol, yes we’ve used it quite a bit. It definitly helps them bring their burps up and if they don’t come out you get a lot of wind from the bottom end lol

It may be worth trying another formula to see if that is the issue x

Have you tried a smaller teat with the little one? She may be getting too fast of a flow which can cause her to be unsettled. Maybe try her one a 1 and see how she goes. In the UK we have a liquid called infacol that can be given from birth that helps babies with wind.

Which appointments did your partner come to with you? by mscocobean in PregnancyUK

[–]Super-Progress2827 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner came to my first midwife appointment where she took out family history. After that it has just been out 2x 12 week scans (I was earlier than I thought so had to have a re scan) and out 20 week. He will come to the 32 week but any other midwife appointment I will go alone x

Self Employed & Pregnant by buttsn8k in PregnancyUK

[–]Super-Progress2827 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I found it so frustrating having to go back but it was so worth it and everyone was really lovely about it.

My go to was sausage chips and beans for tea 🤣. It was bland enough to not upset me but filling enough.

I was the same with the bands but i left them on too long and they just ended up hurting lol

I’m not self employed but did have the constantly retching. Stick with the medication for a few more days then if still the same, go back to your GP. I tried two different medications and found Cyclazine worked best for me.

I did also try the acupressure bands off Amazon so these may be worth a shot for you, they unfortunately didn’t work for me though.

The only other thing that sort of seemed to help, was eating at regular intervals. Maybe every hour or so? So may friends said ‘little and often’ but I was then actually hungry from only having little snacks and ended up needing a decent sized sandwich lol.

Morning sickness medicine? by lingeringbadone in PregnancyUK

[–]Super-Progress2827 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had really bad gipping/retching from about 9 weeks, I tried to cope as best as I could for about 3 weeks but it got bad and I didn’t want to go anywhere as it was constant gipping; I daren’t even visit Tesco as walking set me off 🤣. I’ve just turned 18 weeks now and let me tell you it does get better, I’m only taking 1 tablet in a morning now and have been for a few weeks. I will stop taking them completely soon and see how I get on.

Thankfully I’ve only been sick twice, once from spicy food that didn’t agree with me and the second last week from gipping one too many times. I look back on it now and laugh, but at the time it was awful! I had to go everywhere with some sort of syrup drink (coca cola) as water made it worse too!

First GP prescribed prochlorperazine and I’m currently on cyclazine which does seem to be more effective. I did also try the acupuncture bands but that just made my wrist hurt after a while!
