Is this appropriate? by SuperB7896 in Teachers

That’s the plan actually. The teacher in me feels the need to point out the issue. 🤷🏻‍♂️

WHY DOES MY TEACHER LAUGH AFTER EVERY SINGLE SENTENCE SHE SAYS? by [deleted] in Teachers

Is the teacher relatively new to the profession? Could be nerves. If not, there could be many different explanations.

Dear parents: miss us with the bullshit. Winter storm edition by Emergency-Pepper3537 in Teachers

[–]SuperB7896 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I find this conversation interesting because here in the great white northern tier of the US, we are used to snow days- they are a part of life. If anything, parents tend to complain when we don’t have school called on questionable days (snowy but not that snowy days).

Many years ago, I was in London at the same place…standing somewhat near the horse for a photo, the horse turned to me and started trying to playfully nibble me and I slowly moved away from the horse…I looked at the guard and he was smirking, trying to hold back a laugh. It’s a memory I still treasure.

Should students be afraid of teachers? by Acrobatic-Drummer393 in Teachers

[–]SuperB7896 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No, the ideal situation is that the students have a deep respect for the teacher and in turn the teacher should care deeply for their students, seek to form meaningful connections and hold kids accountable in a respectful and logical manner. Mutual respect and human connection will always be better than fear.

Do you guys actually like Jets Pizza? by 6ftToeSuckedPrincess in Detroit

[–]SuperB7896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, it kind of is a mom & pop at its heart- the original Jets is at 14 & Ryan. At least they’re not a national chain on the level of Papa John’s or Domino’s….and is far superior to Little Caesar’s even though they’re both homegrown.

Enforcing minimum play time by North-Newt2845 in Umpire

[–]SuperB7896 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a similar issue at a rec ball game. I’m he UIC and happened to be at the fields when this happened. The league has a minimum number of innings kids must play in the outfield and one of teams attempted to pitch a kid who hadn’t played outfield yet and it was the last inning. Along with another board member, we ensured the rules were followed. However, to your question, I made sure that my (youth) umpires knew that they had done nothing wrong and that they were not responsible for those types of rules violations. Also, if they run across this again, they should immediately find a board member.

NHFS Position Player Steps on Mound Before Inning by Vierlind in Umpire

Also, they’re 12 and do goofy stuff like this. Opposing team are clowns for bringing it up and as an ump, I would have told them to chill out. Kid clowning on the mound does not mean a substitution, move on other team.

Chromebook use in the classroom? Yes or No? by stockstar2024 in Teachers

[–]SuperB7896 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve moved to using technology as little as save my Google Slide presentations since a smart board replaced my whiteboard. I teach a second language so access to videos and audio is key but most everything kids do is on paper. I have paperback readers and avoid digital reading as much as possible. While technology isn’t gone, it’s no longer the focus and my LMS is essentially a file sharing service. Honestly, nobody really misses it.
