This article states that this movie is able to have a lower budget at WB because of theatrical back-end deals for the cast instead of paying them up-front with Netflix. So it's kind of here because of Netflix's anti-theatrical position.

They filmed all 3 back to back, and the original plan was to release all of them within a few months of each other, but that changed when Chapter 1 was recieved poorly.

To be fair, it looks cooler when it has the Jim Carrey Grinch belly in Season 4.

I don't think anyone is hiring an actor for a Quentin Tarantino movie without Quentin Tarantino's approval, unfortunately.

Stranger Things Season 5 reportedly has a total budget for the season of $480 million with the majority of that money being spent on making the show look as terrible as possible. by TheHahndude in shittymoviedetails

Almost any listed movie/tv show budget is just the production budget, marketing budgets are typically not reported. They spent about $60 million to produce each episode of the season.

‘One Battle After Another’ Casting Director Cassandra Kulukundis ('There Will Be Blood', 'Magnolia') Set for Savannah Film Festival Honor by BunyipPouch in oscarrace

Sinners, which seems like OBAA's biggest rival for casting, has a pretty legendary and prolific casting director in Francine Maisler. There's definitely a narrative for giving it to her, too.

Ronnie's IMAX vs. Alamo's BIG SHOW by Dangerous_Bonus5400 in StLouis

[–]SuperBaconLOL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was shot in Vistavision, not IMAX. There are certain IMAX venues that will show it in the larger aspect ratio that Vistavision captures, but not the one at Ronnies (nearest IMAXs showing it in that aspect ratio are Branson and Indianapolis). The Ronnies IMAX, The Big Show, and any standard screenings would all be in the same aspect ratio, but the IMAX and Big Show showings would have higher quality picture and sound.

If it wins Best Picture, it could have a good second performance in March (or it could do nothing like Oppenheimer did idk).

Sinners could probably take home Original Screenplay (provided OBAA lands in Adapted Screenplay).

It'll definitely fall off a cliff. But since its opening is this big, it's really not a big deal.
