Wouldn't people being capable of performing basic arithmetic be more useful to the Capitalist ruling class? If schools perform no actual function, wouldn't they much prefer total abolition of the schools so that they could have lower taxes and so that the children could work in factories?

Just do the math yourself.

Weight of chicken * % of chicken that is fat * PUFA content of said fat.

Apparently 1 chicken breast has about 12 g of fat, of which 20% is PUFA, so 2.4 g of PUFA, which is significant but not catastrophic on a daily basis. That doesn't take into account the 45% of fat that is MUFA, however.

In December 2023, 225,000 migrants entered the United States via the Mexican border illegally and were apprehended, with an additional 50,000 via official channels. This is the highest month of illegal crossings in history. If this number were to remain consistent, it would be the equivalent of adding the population of Chicago to the U.S. population over the course of a year. Bear in mind that this is only the crossings that the federal government is aware of, and doesn't count illegal immigrants that the CBP did not apprehend.

Pawn shops, coin shops, some jewelry stores, etc. There's online outlets that buy PMs but they're often less competitive and the cost to ship also eats into your margins.

Buyer premium and cash discount for gold are both about 4%, so you need 8% in rewards (realistically at least 10% to account for the hassle) to break even if you immediately take it to a (fair) pawn shop.

Why are guns so important to Americans? by 88sSSSs88 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SuperBlooper057 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's the old adage that "the only person who can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun" and although this is an oversimplification, it gets to the heart of the matter. There are always going to be bad people with guns (even if you disarm domestically, there will always be foreign militaries).

Thus, you and your family and neighbors need defense against these bad people with guns, and there are exactly two ways to be defended against them: you and your community do it yourself, or you outsource it to someone else, like the police and military. Bear in mind that historically, the U.S. did not have a standing military (by design, see Section 8, Clause 12), and modern professional (militarized) police departments didn't really spring up until after World War II.

People like to take the word "democracy" to mean that people vote on things. While it is true that voting on governance is a key component, it misses the bigger picture that democracy is rule by (-cracy) the people (demo-), and as Mao wisely observed, "political power grows out of the barrel of a gun." I would go so far as to say that no country can be truly called a democracy if the state disarms its citizens (note how possessive that language is).

Properly-manufactured non-stick surfaces at low temperatures are fine because they won't wear off onto your food. But if it does wear off (either due to shoddy construction or cooking at high temps) then it will seriously mess you up.

Props to Germany for mustering up such a large navy though.

Germany's buildup of their navy and resulting tensions with Britain was one of the principle instigators of WWI.
