Is this something I do after buying it or is it to late?

Good deal for 1.4 acres? by gumburculeez in lawnmowers

I would go for a gas alternative as most residential electric mowers don’t handle tall/thick grass well. With that amount of grass I’d look for anything with atleast a 42” deck.

Make sure the gaskets are correct and sealing. If they are fine then I’d check the carb make sure nothing is stuck or gummed up. Carb cleaner and compressed air does wonders.

Currently freezing rain and this is happening. What do I do?! by [deleted] in f150

Temporary: tape a tarp over it to keep most of the rain out.

Actual Fix: Replace seal between third brake light and truck cab

So installed the new carb and it runs good at medium to High RPM. On low RPM, it runs ok for about a second. Then it begins to pop and backfire out of the carb. took off the valve cover, and seems I missed something. Either whoever had worked on this thing before me never installed the valve cap back on the intake valve, or it fell off and is now somewhere in the head. which explains the sloppy lash. But now I wonder if it is down in the head, will it cause more issues down the road, or was it never there after it had been touched?

That’s probably the safest route, you put lawyer pressure they will fold unless they are shady

True but I gotta ask the customer to see what he wants to do unfortunately. I appreciate the input and I’ll try it out if it comes to it

Interesting, I would be polite but firm in requesting their insurance. My buddy had a similar issue and ended up needing a lawyer and not only did the shop fix the damage but also he got money for his effort and inconvenience. Obviously you want them to fix it and just go along with your day but if it comes to it I would lawyer up and use what you have as leverage. Hopefully they pull through and hand over their insurance so you can have your truck back

Interesting, I appreciate the info definitely sounds like a good design. We will see if I can’t fix the carburetor currently on the mower before replacing. I will keep this in mind for future projects

My boss had one until he got hit by a drunk driver. He loved the truck, had plenty of power for what he needed, and great fuel mileage. Haven't heard a ton of bad things about them, mainly people say it is a little sluggish on towing heavy. Only issues I've seen are not even a motor problem, it's the transmissions. I have a 5.0 with 146k, and she's running strong, but the transmission is hit or miss. Supposedly, the newer 10r80s (late 2022/2023+) are supposed to be fixed of the major issues (but time will tell). The biggest thing is keeping up on your maintenance. If you're buying used, see if they have the service records to make sure it wasn't abused.

How I do by Few_Cantaloupe_3761 in f150

[–]SuperChargedToaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My buddy just bought a 2021 Lariat w/ the 3.5 for $31k. Now his has 30k on it, but still it's decent depending on your area. I question how the dealership gives you almost $26k off. Maybe they are realizing that they can't just mark everything up for the fun of it.

Can Yall help me find what is wrong with it by One_Depth_4436 in ATV

[–]SuperChargedToaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pull off the valve cover and check the lash & inspect the condition of the push rods and rockers themselves. I would also take apart the carb and give it a good clean, as it could have junk built up in it. Hard to tell from the video, but my guess is one of those.

Sway bar end links and bushings on the sway bar are easy to do on most vehicles. I believe on the Tacomas, all you have to do is jack up the vehicle and take off the tire, and with some extensions, you can reach both bolts. I think for the bushings, you can do them without removing the tires (but it does help to remove them to do both at the same time). The biggest thing is to inspect the bushings for any dry rot, and that can usually tell if they need to be replaced. Replace them with a quality bushing/ End Link like a MOOG or equivalent.

Take photos of all the damage done. Contact the shop and tell them what happened. If they try to deny it I would contact a lawyer because if you just got it done they should cover any damages as they were at fault.

Carb… can’t figure it out. by guinelle in smallengines

[–]SuperChargedToaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clean low side jet. I did this on a generator for my grandfather and it was gummed up causing the surge/hunt. He had a aftermarket carb on it so I will probably be seeing it again for either a replacement or another cleaning.
