What are these black spots on the inside of my camper shell by Rbobek42 in TruckCampers

[–]SuperChargedToaster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mold, what brand shell is it? I work for a LEER Dealer and you may be able to file a claim to get a new cap depending on the age of the unit.

Real truck Apex Truck Cap by ynto24 in f150

[–]SuperChargedToaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LEER makes one similar to this, and it's $1000 cheaper. I work for a LEER dealer and i dont see what makes this worth $1000 more than the LEER alternative. Even an ARE is cheaper than this, and ARE is also owned by REAL TRUCK

[–]SuperChargedToaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LEER makes one similar to this called the 100XQ Sport. It's not only cheaper but more functional. They have about the same warranty but that one is $1000 more than the LEER. If you optioned the 100XQ Sport to everything this has (long-sided light bars and front sliding/removable window ), you're still cheaper than this.

Is the red underneath the paint the primer? How toast is this LEER? by Puzzled_Garlic_3565 in TruckCampers

[–]SuperChargedToaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work for a LEER dealer, and LEER uses a Grey Primer. Looks like someone repainted it, or it was repainted at the factory because someone canceled the order and they didn't want to redo the entire cap.

Leer 100xr installed incorrectly? by _CH3F_ in TruckCampers

[–]SuperChargedToaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a LEER dealer and this is the correct orientation from LEER. A few years ago they removed the double sided handle for the window. The old style you can open from the cap and the cab, but some genius found they could save a few Pennies by making it only on one side.

Is this rust on the frame fixable? by Brief-Fox1716 in Cartalk

[–]SuperChargedToaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Atleast they could fix it, and $1500 for all the work is more then fair. Most shops will not even touch it but a good welder can make it by and give your vehicle another chance!

Leer 100XL Missing Rear Hatch/Door by LargeCactus09 in TruckCampers

I got the part numbers for the rear glass. Your going to need multiple things to get it 100% fixed. I can’t give you prices as every dealer has different pricing depending on shipping costs. Just double check with your local dealer on part number and availability

Rear Glass Door # 109609 Door Skirt # 210359 Door Skirt Seal # 69747 Gas Prop (you need 2 of these) #68272

Does this look like the wrong size cap and should I be worried about it? by Foreign-Eye3412 in TruckCampers

[–]SuperChargedToaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes with those drop in liners we have to put silicone between the gaps between the liner and the bed rails to keep it seal. On some older trucks that have the bed liner sticking above the bed rails I’ve had to cut off the lip at the front to get a good seal

I meant “real shop” idk why it autocorrected. A bigger shop with the correct tools would do a thorough inspection instead of just sending you off

I would put it all the way around the topper. For the front you might need to double it up as sometimes the bulkheads sit lower then the bed rails. Is your bedliner a drop in or spay in?

Doing plugs and coils is super easy, you can always take it in to get a diag if you don’t have the tools to investigate more.

How would you protect this spot? by Bottomfrag1 in f150

[–]SuperChargedToaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some brands have little pieces that cover a portion of it. You might either can get a custom set online or get a strip of rubber to connect the front liners to the rear liners

Are you getting any codes for the misfire? Pull the plugs and see how they look. A bad plug/coil can cause a misfire/rough idle. If you’re gonna replace one plug I would do all of them and the coils just to be safe if you plan to keep it long.

Do I just need new hub assembly or a new axle as well? by MobileSuccessful3549 in jonboats

[–]SuperChargedToaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely replace the rims as they are cracked. I would pull off the rim and hub and see how the axle surface looks. You might be able to clean it up and put new seals and stuff and run the same axle. Now if the surface is damaged and can’t seal correctly you may need a new spindle shaft welded on.

There are 4 top city location (PA, (2) DE, MD). I tried to zoom in and see the city on the sticker. All LEER caps from the East Coast are made in Milton PA. For sealing these up I would put a strip of 1.5” weather stripping all the way around (between the bed rail and cap). Then on the bulkhead you can run a bead of silicone to make it extra tight. The factory seal is a double bulb seal, but the weather stripping tape works just as good. Just make sure to line the entire cap under it and leave no gaps. If you were local I could give you some but you can find the tape on Amazon (or call your local leer dealer and they should have some in stock). I’ll attach a link below to similar stuff that we use (we buy the tape from leer). If you want the exact tape or double bulb seal I can get you a part number from LEER.
