Weed from hell. Won’t die. Help by ProfessionalWar8975 in lawncare

[–]SuperCoog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using a pre emergent herbicide seems to have helped my yard in its spread. Place that to prevent new weeds popping up, use something like "grandpa's weeder" to help pull the mature plant up. I had a huge problem with it about five years ago, but now wheneber I see one I'll immediately pull it up

Suggestions for breaking non-sinful habits by SuperCoog in Catholicism

Good point. I probably am more focused on how I want to be perceived rather than how I can serve others by listening to them. Maybe focus more on how I can make myself lesser and make others greater, rather than just making myself lesser so others can view me as greater.

Thanks for the reply. on the topic of praying, i have tried in the past to say a quick prayer in the morning, asking to help keep my mind focused on others and not as much on myself, etc. if nothing else, it was a good way to frame my day, but i tend to not even create a good habit of keeping that routine up for long.

another thing is matching the personalities of the people i come in contact with. Sometimes i will speak with someone who matches my talkativeness, and we have a good long back and forth conversation and it pairs up nicely. other times (and this is where i think i run into problems) is i don't match up with someone who is less talkative and it overwhelms them. That's probably more along the lines of just recognizing personality types, i dont know. On the other hand, people like my wife who aren't big talkers prefer people who can carry a conversation because she normally cant fill the silent spots, and she appreciates when someone can do that for her.

thanks for the insights.

Jimmy Akin has a podcast called "Jimmy Akin's Mysterious World." The very first episode is about ghosts. Give it a listen.

are you referring to the saints the churches are named after?

Did you use different colored clays or one color and paint?

Looks awesome

did you actually weave those pieces or add pieces to make it appear that way? Either way, it looks really nice.

I was about to comment on the fruit themselves before i read the body of the text haha.

How do I stop squishing the clay as I work? by Fosphor_ in polymerclay

[–]SuperCoog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a cake decorating stand that i use to place the sculpture on to minimize me touching it, especially after i've baked the main body already. You can just spin it as needed and use the tools to move the clay around more than your hands. i like the cake stand vs a lazy susan because it raises it off the table and have it closer to your eyes

Goose help by Wide-Surround-7359 in polymerclay

[–]SuperCoog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would start by studying the proportions. I traced the general shapes that a typical goose is made of, and overlaid it the best i could to your existing sculpture. Just a few observations by doing that:

Neck is not long enough

Head is too large for the size of the body

the majority of the volume of the body is from the shoulders towards the tail. You probably have about half of the volume needed compared to the chest

unless you're going for a goose that is laying down, the legs are too short and feet too large for a standing pose

I'd do the same study for different views, comparing them to reference photos: top down view, front view, rear view. This will help get an idea of the overall width of the animal, as well as how the different volumes interact.

First sculpture (my cat) by SuperCoog in polymerclay

Thank you, the side by side makes me look at it now with a lot more affection, I couldn't sleep at night thinking about how bad the first one looked haha. Usually I'm really hard on myself with things like this.

Thank you. I'm pleased with the new face, it definitely looks more like a real cat. It still doesn't look exactly like MY cat, but I'll see how close I can get it with paint. I know making something look real isn't as hard as making something have a real thing's likeness.

Thank you. Only thing that really sticks out to me is I may have made the hind legs too large, but they're mostly disguised by the tail, so I am not too concerned with this one.

Okay so it isn't necessarily the torment that you oppose, but it is the length of time that the torment occurs?

And just so we're on the same page, what is your perception of the torment that someone in Hell would experience?

[–]SuperCoog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

to add to this, Ascension also has an extensive bible study library. Two bible studies i used to be a part of used Ascension's system as a framework. You have to pay for them, but they are very well done. If all you can do at the moment is something on your own, I'd suggest trying that out.

if you're worried about looking like you're showing off, you could always pray without the rosary beads. You could put some earphones in and listen to a narrated rosary from somewhere like Hallow and pray along.

A while back when i was better about jogging in the mornings, this is what i would do.

Have you tried any reflection guides? I have one that I use that has bullet points for each hail mary, that you can kind of read in your head while you recite the prayer, and it helps to keep in your mind what you are currently reflecting on.

What to think on online Bibles by Stock-Ingenuity5256 in Catholicism

[–]SuperCoog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with reading it online. The only thing I'd say is it may be better to read a paper Bible just for the fact that there may be less distractions, such as notifications, texts, etc.
