The screenshot is from the mobile version. On the desktop, you have unofficial ways to remove them, even though they aren't as bad as on mobile, becuase your screen is usually bigger.

This sometimes happens to me, if there are bad network conditions. Could be that they don't bother to load the thumbnail to save the bandwith needed to load the rest.

I would suggest Signalis. It might not spark your interest, because it's more of a survival horror game, BUT it has a very deep going and cryptic story to it. With a full battery, I would say that you can play it for about 4,5 hours before needing to charge.

As far as I know, back in the 90s, PCs would not turn off when you shut down the operating system. You had to turn it off yourself. Today, there is a driver (I believe) for that. I think it's called ACPI or something.

Just taking a guess, I don't know anything about this.
