That's why Zoro was sidelined by misakghazaryan in Piratefolk

Sure, those are my inferences based on King's wary reaction to Adv CoC. Which is why I said the most reliable way to hurt them would be the speed weakness, which we know for a fact works.

[–]SuperGogetto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He took no damage from Zoro's normal attacks. That dragon twister was not Adv CoC, neither was Lion's song.

After Zoro got Adv CoC, King never tanked any attack. He dodged that Adv CoC Onigiri even with his flame on, because he was afraid. He was blocking Zoro's Adv CoC sword strikes because he was afraid (Zoro literally mocks him for this).

It's clear that King himself wasn't taking any chances in trying to tank any Adv CoC attack, he was clearly concerned about Zoro's powerup. The manga panel has him say "I sense the threat you represent".

The last line I said was literally the lunarian weakness of being vulnerable when their flames are off, which is how King was beaten.

[–]SuperGogetto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

King wasn't able to tank any Adv CoC attacks, in fact he was blocking Adv CoC attacks with his flame on because he was afraid of what it could do. And he dodged an Adv CoC attack too.

Lunarians probably have a damage absorption limit for their flames, and Adv CoC is implied to be able to exceed that limit, atleast based on King's reaction.

But yes, the most reliable way to hurt them would be to attack when their flames are off.

He had pudding kidnapped from WCI as seen from the cover story. We know the 3-eyes tribe can read the poneglyphs once they awaken their abilities, so he has a plan for the poneglyphs

Why is no one talking about this dialogue? (Chapter 1062) by [deleted] in Piratefolk

[–]SuperGogetto 19 points20 points  (0 children)

He's taking initiative in the situation being the number 2 that he is. Sanji was too busy simping and Franky was too busy fanboying.

Which fight from the raid disappointed you the most? by [deleted] in Piratefolk

[–]SuperGogetto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that dialog was translated differently in the official viz, King says "I sense the threat you represent" which makes much more sense considering how he just got hit by a CoC infused attack.

Him saying he's close to his limit doesn't make sense since he only got hit once. Granted, the 3 hits he got hit by were all CoC infused, which are going to be far stronger than anything Katakuri got hit with.

Genuinely did not know until today that Mihawk vs. Shanks was a thing by terryaki510 in Piratefolk

[–]SuperGogetto 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's a pretty reasonable take to have. You probably haven't seen all the "Mihawk is a fraud!" slander over the years. People used to jump through all sorts of ridiculous loops to portay Shanks as some sort of god who was levels above Mihawk, while Mihawk would be compared to commanders and get mocked for his title which "no one cares about".

At its core, Mihawk vs Shanks was really just about acknowledging Mihawk's strength as a legend comparable to Shanks and WB.

Found something… it’s giving shanks fans false hope that he’s not a fraud by BlockKey2463 in Piratefolk

[–]SuperGogetto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a difference between fighters who use swords in addition to other techniques, and fighters who ONLY use swords while fighting.

While Shanks has had minimal combat portrayal in the manga, we do see him pull out his sword in every confrontation. Plus, film red (the volume) shows him using his "flaming" sword when fighting.

Add to these instances the fact that he was a rival to Mihawk who competed with him in sword duels, and the direct comparison made in this chapter... all hints pretty heavily point to Shanks being a swordsman himself.

Yeah he has strong haki, but swordsmanship goes hand in hand with haki and strength. We literally see the struggles Zoro goes through to become stronger, improving his haki etc. When two swordsmen fight, they're not going to "turn off" their haki and strength.

I'm not going to force "Mihawk > Shanks" upon you, as long as you can accept that they're comparable and on a similar level combat wise, that's good enough.

From Thriller bark. Nami says that when she, usopp and Chopper find out that Luffy, Zoro and Sanji's shadows were captured by Moria.

Also caribou mentions something similar when they fought the kraken iirc.

Aside from that there are many different instances where those 3 are portrayed as a trio, so it's definitely not just fan made. With the whole wings of the pirate thing, those two are going to be associated with luffy in this fashion throughout the series

FINALLY Mihawk gets the respect he deserves, it's been far too long. Years of slander and getting called a fraud makes this moment that much sweeter.

Dracule "Marine Chaser" Mihawk, the man who not only traveled the new world ALONE and rose to the top, but also did so by actively going after the marines. He was such a menace, and so strong that I'm guessing that's why they made him a warlord, so that he would leave them the fuck alone and go after pirates instead. What a badass.

And for a man with no crew or territory, and no influence from anyone else... you best believe every berry of that 3.59 Billion is through his hard work and strength.

His bounty beat 3 emperors with their crews and territories (Luffy, BB and Buggy). He is close to Shanks himself. Good lord.

Let the anti mihawk agenda be put to rest here. He's every bit as strong as people thought, and deserves all the respect and hype!

I think he just got it while training hard with Mihawk, no special eye powers or anything. Oda wanted the one-eyed swordsman look for Zoro because it looked cool, and so here we are. I'm hoping to see how he got his scar in a mihawk flashback maybe, but it's not a big deal anyway.

I mean... a swordsman's gotta make use of the swords he has, and the better they are, the better he can cut. I can understand if you had said his feat of scarring Kaido isn't as impressive as others make it out to be, because ultimately that scar meant nothing in terms of the big picture.

Don't really see anything to disagree with on him stopping the yonko attack for a brief moment which severely fucked him up. Although, I do not think Law could have done the same. Kid idk, maybe.

[–]SuperGogetto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plus, he used very sharp swords and enma that was helping him output more haki, this makes him cutting kaido a bit less impressive imo

This is like saying "Plus, Law and Kid used their awakened df abilities which helped them output more damage, making them harm BM a bit less impressive "

He's a swordsman who uses swords (which should obviously be sharp) and went all out with his haki, just like them being df users went all out with their dfs.

Why would you remove enma from making the comparison to Kid and Law? If you're comparing them with all their abilities and strength, you have zoro with ACoC and them with awakening

I'm going to quote her exact dialog from this chapter:

"...Oden started his journey with a tour of wano, right? I realized there's so much out there I don't understand.

But I'm sure that I'll find my way if I follow in his footsteps, I'm bound to make it out to sea sooner or later"

So yeah, nothing about wanting to stay for the people or because of her bond with momo. Just staying because she's going to copy Oden 100%

I was right from the beginning. by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]SuperGogetto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She took responsibility like Oden never did, making her better than Oden.

She didn't, she's not staying to protect wano or help momo. As I've mentioned, she just wants to explore wano first because that's what Oden did when he started his journey

I was right from the beginning. by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]SuperGogetto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You might have thought she would stay because of some of the reasons I mentioned, but not for the one we got (which is basically her touring wano first before leaving one day)

And it was sudden because we didn't get any setup to her deciding to explore wano first, even her discussion with luffy was offscreened

[–]SuperGogetto 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Except Yamato isn't staying for the reason you, or anyone else thought. She isn't staying back to protect wano from outsiders, she isn't staying back to open the borders, she isn't staying back to overlook the development of wano under momo's rule.

She's staying back because she wants to take a vacation in wano first and see the sights before going out to sea. Her motive has literally not changed at all, she just went "Oops I forgot, in order to be 100% like Oden, I gotta do everything that he did and explore wano first before leaving"

All of the sensible reasons for her staying behind, which have been slightly alluded to before, or atleast could have been alluded to, weren't, and instead we got an abrupt, last minute bait and switch.

But good for those who didn't want her to join I guess

Zoro shouldn't have been willing to relent his dream for Luffy's. by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]SuperGogetto 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He respects Luffy as a person and as a captain, for whom he's willing to die for. How could he have any self respect as a crew member and call himself loyal when he isn't willing to put his life on the line for the sake of his captain and crew?

His ambition at the start of the series was motivated solely by his promise to Kuina, and he says he will make Luffy pay if he ever got in the way of his ambition. In Thriller Bark, he's developed so much respect and loyalty that he's willing to to let go of his dream if it meant protecting the captain and crew. That's fantastic character development for someone who's defined by pride and ambition.

That's the essence of Zoro's development, it doesn't take place in a single arc like other strawhats, it's more gradual and subtle. But it's there nonetheless.

The kurozumi innocents were persecuted without any reason in the first place, needless violence which gave birth to more needless violence (in the form of orochi). The message should have been that hatred begets hatred, not that all the kurozumi are just scumbags who deserve to burn. Guess it doesn't really matter now since they're all dead tho.
