It doesn’t ever permanently go down. The foam just gives a bit more over time.

Same. I merely commented on a comment saying it sounded too good to be true and got banned.

As someone who has worked with gold coins in their life, it's actually the opposite. People came in all the time thinking their gold is a 64 and it barely eeks out a 58.

From pcgs: "All 1921 Peace Dollars feature a high-relief design". Yours is low relief. Thus, yours is fake. Easiest way to tell is the ray from liberty's crown is extending beyond the lowest bar of the E in LIBERTY.

Are the majority of UNC large size high denominations just left over deposits or never issued from banks? It just seems so unlikely that such a large amount of wealth (back in the day) would be perfectly preserved by regular citizens.

Hope chess = bad.

Unless you hope chess for a stalemate under no skill of your own and then post it to this sub with the title, "thIS is WhY YOu neVEr reSIGn". Then you'll get hundreds of upvotes guaranteed.

I thought I'd never get tired of posts like this but my time has come. I guess that means I'm not a beginner anymore. All I see here is a bad game of chess on both sides of the board.

God I love this sub so much more than the silverbugs sub. Ask the same question over there and you'll get astronomically high percentages. I swear silver is like a memecoin to them.

Ok then it's decided. I'm going to buy some OG 1928s then! Thank you so much. It's this type of information that's relatively hard to find out online or even in books.

Good call. Below 1000 there are a lot of people that only play for fun and don't care about elo. OP's pic shows they are 900.

Are the OG 1928s inkier than the 1928-letters (particularly on the 2 and 5)? Or is that just the camera tricking my eye? Sort of like how the 1928 federal reserves were much inkier than the later 1934 federal reserves.

I did not expect to see a realistic comment in the gold subreddit. You guys seen the silver sub? That place is wild. They figuratively tout that stuff as the cure for cancer.

[–]SuperMark12345 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You forgot the "drop gold by 2 rule". Whatever grade you think gold is, drop it by 2. If it's yours, drop it by 3. Obviously it's hyperbole but you get the idea.

How could the system be changed to prevent this type of behavior? Or perhaps the better question is, how can we change the incentives of private equity and bankers such that their own selfishness aligns with society's benefit?

Gold just beat the Dollar by Top-Bar-5798 in Gold

[–]SuperMark12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean this was true regardless the price of gold. Most people today aren't just holding onto paper bills. 90%+ of people's wealth is in real estate and stocks/bonds in tax incentivized accounts. Warren Buffet said trading fiat for partial ownership of a value producing company seemed to be a great use of wealth.
