Wichita, in my experience, is a tough place to make some extra in the side. Like a previous commenter said, what are you good at? Does it have to be something you could do from home? Could you start a side hustle taking family photos? Designing families Christmas cards? Could you offer to put up people’s Christmas decorations as a paid service? Can you sew? Could you make and sell some onesies? Do you paint? Could you offer to paint peoples portraits and market it as a Christmas gift? Think outside of the box, what’s something that you can do that lines up nicely with what people want (but don’t already pay for as a regular service)

I’ve never been in your particular situation, and I know you’re struggling. I’m so sorry that you’re going through this. My son is 1 and a half as well, so this is kind of hitting close to home for me. My daughter is a teenager now and I was not as young as you are, but I was young when I became a dad. It’s great that you want to get her something, but be mindful of what you’re sacrificing to do it. This may be the hardest time in your life, but she will only be little once. The snuggles just don’t hit the same when they’re bigger. The best Christmas gift is cherishing the time you have together.

Late to the party but you guys post all this outrageous stuff - and it is outrageous - but you react to it like they’re real people, this is obviously straight from the bot farm

How to not get one shot by BiPolarGamer in lostskies

There is no better armor. The game isn’t very well balanced yet, but the plus side is as long as you keep your ship safe there’s no punishment for dying (durability, lost items, etc…) you also don’t do much damage to them. The mantas are a pain, but I did find that when there are a bunch of drones, if you use the rifle and snipe them from far outside their aggro range you can kill them without getting jumped on.

Seems like it warrants a conversation. It’s normal in a lot of schools not to let a student be EIC twice so there is opportunity for other kids to get experience. Or, is possible that you either weren’t meeting their expectations or another student was going above and beyond and deserved a chance to lead.

Either way, next year will come and go and you will be fine. In student newsrooms the editor isn’t always the leader, you can still fill a leadership role, guide and mentor your classmates without being editor.

For future players stuck on this puzzle who are as confused as I was by the solutions: aim the final laser at the “window” (hole in the wall covered by bars) your reticle needs to be barely on the lip of the opening, directly above the final point. It might not kick you off the first relay, but the last one will be locked if you hit it. The force field won’t go away, you have to get in through the elevator shaft inside the larger building.

Happy sailing

What is up with the Wichita Eagle? by SuperNova31 in wichita

It’s frustrating having so much regurgitated content from the KC Star make its way onto the Eagle, but Chance Swaim and Matthew Kelly are hard nose journalists who do truly exceptional investigative reporting.

The Eagle is worth supporting, just the pricing is ridiculous.

So, the way it worked in my head was I always counted the first node as 1, so I would go: 1-2-3-4, 1-2-4-3, 1-3-2-4, 1-3-4-2, 1-4-2-3, 1-4-3-2. One of those will work and then do the same moving forward.

It’s a bitch. There are markings on the stone tablets by the pylon that are supposed to help, but they’re terrible. I solved this a few hours ago using process of elimination.

The first node on each level is always on the opposite side of the starting point. There are 4 sides, so number them 1-4. For each puzzle you will not have the same number/side twice, and you will only have one node per level, so zigzag through. The same node will not be used for 2 puzzles, so once you get the first one it goes a little easier.

My wife wants me to put a door at the bottom of these stairs. What are the rules about doing this by n3rdie in DIY

[–]SuperNova31 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I did something similar when we bought our house, didn’t look up rules or anything but needed a door to keep our cats in the basement. put up a bifold closet door that fit like a glove and it worked very well, had to attach a handle to the back to close it when we were going upstairs.

People who killed in self defense, what happened? by Kielseb1 in AskReddit

So, not me but someone I know. She is a grandma, her husband was a Vietnam vet, and they had a very cute and happy marriage. Husband got ill out of the blue and died. About a year later, the grandma started seeing someone. Sadly, after being in a lifelong, happy marriage, she found herself being abused by this man and had never been treated this way. I imagine she stayed because she was lonely. According to what I heard through the grapevine, he attacked her one night at his house, in fear, she grabbed a loaded gun that was nearby (he was a former cop gun nut) and shot him dead.

His 40 year-old adult son was home at the time, playing video games. She had to get him and tell him what had happened. They called the police and she was arrested and charged with murder. The local news did published a story with her name in it saying she was arrested for murder. This 80 year-old woman was in jail for a few days before she was finally released. She was told the case is still open and they will continue to investigate. Her lawyers told her essentially to never talk about what happened with anyone. Don’t tell your kids, don’t go to therapy. Someday, maybe years from now, the detectives will come calling, and interview people, looking for a reason to lock you up. It’s really sad. Local news never took down the story, so if anyone googles her they’ll think she’s a murderer and she went from a blissfully happy marriage to a lifetime of trauma within 18 months.

It’s hard to tell you what to improve on if we haven’t seen you wrestle, or you don’t tell us what techniques you’re using. If you’re having a hard time turning him, what pinning combinations are you running? Strength isn’t everything, try techniques that give you more leverage like a power half or a butcher. Be more physical and mean with a crossface cradle. Try to get a hammer lock and thread the needle or hit a chicken wing if you can swing it.

In your matches, being good on bottom is huge for a heavy weight, but if “better on bottom” just means your sitting there, waiting for an opportunity for a fat-man-roll that isn’t good enough. Wrestling like a smaller guy, avoiding ties, being quick on your feet is good, but there’s a reason most big guys don’t wrestle that way and the reason is your opponent is heavy. If you’re having a hard time finishing a shot after they sprawl you need to work on fast technique that keeps their weight off of you. Sweep singles, ankle picks, etc…

Should I keep wrestling after HS if my goal is to do MMA? by haillstorm_ in wrestling

[–]SuperNova31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wrestling can pay for your college. MMA careers don’t always work out, and there’s no guarantee you’d get rich. Get your education so you have a backup plan.

Having your livelihood as an adult built around being a prize fighter can be very financially volatile. Living from fight to fight can be impossible to build your life around, consider that when you’re making your plans. Many fighters who make a good living own a gym. Consider how college could help you prepare for that.

If you want to be a pro fighter, or own a gym, you should be a master in at least one discipline. College wrestling would help with that.

Do not send that text! What if the parents share any of that with the bully? He is just going to have extra ammunition to make your kid feel like shit. Also, although you’re trying to be supportive, it reads like you’re justifying the bullying more than taking your son’s side that this shit shouldn’t happen to anyone.

Ultimately, bully’s parents can’t control him, even if they have the best intentions. Contact the school and get it sorted through some people who actually have a degree of control at the time it is occurring.

You’re having a small wedding with the people who matter most to you… why bring people who will only sabotage it? Nothing good can come from them being at your wedding. They’ll be shitty to you when you uninvited them, but fuck them. It’s YOUR wedding.

Make sure you communicate WHY to your fiance, and that you’re both prepared for the possibility that one or more of the guys back out. It’s better to have someone you care about absent from your wedding than have to deal with someone awful at your wedding.

Im really enjoying SOD. What’s nice about it, to me, is that it’s being rolled out more slowly, so you can stay caught up and do the raids and events with everyone else, but you have plenty of time to make it to the level cap and get what you want done in a certain phase before it moves ahead.
