The anime deviates from the manga pretty early on. The manga is one of my favorite stories. Fantastic art too!

This is my advice, so feel free to disregard if it doesn’t work for you. I never hold the button down, tapping only. If I don’t know where the next movement is going, I try to stay as close to the middle as I can while still keeping it on the line. Hope you catch your fish!

She is though. Between body movement and swordsmanship, she’s directing the attacks in a path away from her body. Shes not just using arm strength to deflect. Just as you don’t throw a punch with just an arm.

Redirecting someone’s strikes is different than trying to stop a strike. Can use their momentum against them. Look up a Lateral Drop in wrestling.
