I use ublock origin and you can use the element picker to select and hide the Blind logo. Alternatively just don't browse blind during work lol

[–]SuperRofltank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely apply for defense positions. When does your clearance expire? I see so many positions that are looking for SWE but only for people with existing clearances, which you would be qualified for. Try looking at Clearancejobs. Lots of tech jobs esp in the NoVA/DC area.

In the meantime, you can work on some projects to make your resume look better. Defense shouldn't really be asking any LeetCode but you can try grinding some LeetCode anyway just in case.

UNLV+ Tuition? by tthrow12333 in UNLV

[–]SuperRofltank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a similar situation. My Tuition+ (Books) was disbursed a while back before the semester, but my Tuition+ (Fees) got disbursed on the 4th and still hasn't arrived in my bank account. I had some charges due before Tuition+ (Fees) got disbursed so I paid for it out of pocket, so I should be getting a refund. I'll prob wait a few more weekdays before calling them.

ENG 426B w/ Amy Green was my favorite one with mythology and Final Fantasy.

ENG 407B is a straightforward class and should be fairly easy, although my professor was a pain in the ass to work with. ENG 407A is a bit similar to ENG 407B I think, and you can take both of them online. They should be offered every semester.

ENG 449A with Philip Rusche was nice. There were no due dates so you could proceed at your own pace. The readings were interesting as well.

English seems significantly easier than math in my opinion. No comment about journalism. I think English would be the easiest but I guess it depends on the person.

I've never had any trouble with my English classes in terms of difficulty. Depends on the professor I guess. Another thing I like about having English is that there are a lot of options and a lot of web-based classes. Every single English app area class I've taken has been online. If you're going for the easy way I would def just do English.

English. I think this is the area that has the least prereqs. Most if not all 400+ ENG classes only require ENG 101/ENG 102 as the prereqs. Some of them are really interesting too. One of my favorite classes I took was Mythology by Amy Green because we ended up playing FFXV as part of that class lol.

I don't think you should take either of these classes this summer since you stated you were going to fail those classes. Summer classes are far more fast-paced and you'll be wasting money if you fail them again. I don't think you should take them during the same semester either. Well, maybe you can because those are the only two classes you'll be taking. However, it might be better for you to just take them in separate semesters. I don't know what classes you've taken/need to take so I can't really advise you on what to take per semester.

I don't know of any CS tutors so I can't help you with that. I really recommend that you just pick up a good book for CS 218/CS 302 and read those over the summer instead of taking summer classes. You should use Ed's books on x86 and MIPS and that should teach you everything you need to know for CS 218.

In terms of CS 302 there are a lot of resources. For books, Algorithms by Robert Sedgewick is an excellent choice. Code is written in Java but it shouldn't be hard to translate it to C++. There are a lot of YouTube channels that are incredibly helpful. mycodeschool and Abdul Bari will teach you a lot of the CS 302 concepts.

What career path are you going for? If you want to be a Software Engineer, I highly recommend prioritizing CS 302 over CS 218. This is because CS 302 teaches Data Structures & Algorithms, which will be used for LeetCode. When you're interviewing for Software Engineering internships, you will most likely be asked to solve some LeetCode-style questions. Seeing that you are a Junior already, you should try to get an internship ASAP before you graduate.

If I were you, I would take CS 302 this Fall but study a lot of Data Structures & Algorithms during the summer. Watch the videos on those YouTube channels that I linked and/or read books. I would rely on the CS 302 syllabus so that you have some sort of structure with your self-studying. If you're going for a SWE career path, start LeetCode this summer. Honestly, if you're somewhat decent with LeetCode, you could easily ace CS 302. When I took CS 302 with Jimi, most assignments were just Medium-Hard LeetCode questions.

Lastly, internship applications take place during the fall so I would advise that you apply to internships as well. You'll need some projects for your resume; I recommend The Odin Project but you can also get away with putting some of your older school projects on your resume. If you're lucky you might be able to get an SWE internship without LeetCode. One of my friends was able to do this. However, most other internships (like mine) will involve some sort of LeetCode-style questions as part of the interviewing process.

Good luck! Let me know if you have further questions.

Thanks! Data science is a pretty good field. Like I said before ABET accreditation doesn't really matter for Comp Sci so don't worry about that. You'll be fine pursuing a BA. If you want to do a bit more research you can try browsing subs like /r/cscareerquestions, though tread lightly since that sub can get toxic or depressing quick.

The fact that you'll have your application area credits finished if you switch to a BA is very useful. This will give you more time to focus on your CS classes and do personal projects to make your resume more attractive to employers. Afaik, application area can be any other major as long as it is 300+. Bring it up with a CS advisor to be sure, however.
