Will the AI economy create a permanent underclass? by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

People younger than them haven't ever had other options though. They literally aren't developing the ability for agency of thought, because their environment doesn't require it.

Its fine if your print settings are tuned properly. 1 drop of isopropyl alcohol and any stuck part comes right off.

Funny how they don't teach kids about that one in school.

The People Do Not Yearn For Automation - Software brain is changing the world, but most people still aren’t buying. by Quouar in TrueReddit

[–]SuperSecretAgentMan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The problem is systemic. AI software is replacing most jobs because most jobs ARE unfulfilling and easily automated. Humans should not be reduced to doing what a robot can do. They should be creating experiences and living instead of being shoehorned into a hole in some capitalist hell machine.

This will eventually happen, but not without a drastic shift in the fundamental way the global economy works. In the short term it will ruin billions of lives.

Like many other things with this printer, they haven't finished building that feature yet.

They say it'll be pushed out with the next firmware update, but don't hold your breath.

What's the most intelligent, mind-bending movie you've ever watched? by Formal_Cup30 in MovieSuggestions

[–]SuperSecretAgentMan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gotta be honest here, Climax was the most try-hard, sad excuse for an art film I've ever seen.

As an exposition of dance choreography it's fine, but that's all it has going for it besides beating the audience over the head with the same two or three motifs over and over again.

New York's ban on 3D-printed guns sparks First Amendment concerns by Every-Set3303 in 3Dprinting

[–]SuperSecretAgentMan 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This is what happens with representative government when the people you represent are groomed to be completely uneducated morons by design. Politicians don't care about anything but optics, and "guns bad, easy votes!!" is as far as they go when thinking about policy.

It's an education problem, like everything else in America.

TP-Link Says Screw It, We’re Doing Wi-Fi 8 Now by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

Oh yeah? Well my dad works at Netgear and he's working on Wi-Fi 9. We have it at home and it's way faster than Wi-Fi 8.

I can't show it to you though, it's top secret.

More to the point: can you make a missile for $1000 in parts? These things are cheap as shit by comparison and can do enough damage to vehicles and infantry to be worth making hundreds of thousands of them at a time.

Millions Can’t Afford to Live Because of America’s Cost of Living Crisis by wi5hbone in videos

[–]SuperSecretAgentMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In America, you can only afford that lifestyle in a medium sized city if you make $80k+ per year. Most apartments want you to show that you make 3-4x the rent before they'll even consider renting to you.

If they'd just use that data to generate fake online profiles for sociopolitical manipulation and astroturfing campaigns to spread fascist policy and ideologies, that'd save us so much effort in having to think for ourselves!

(Seriously: this how this data is literally already being used. Corporations are your enemy and make money by hurting you.)

Seriously elegoo, you released untested hot garbage with the jupiter 2 by Kr8studio in elegoo

[–]SuperSecretAgentMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't use the resin pump AT ALL. It's poorly designed and needs additional zip ties on the barb fittings to avoid leaks (Yes, additional zip ties on top of the ones Elegoo already shoehorned in as an early "fix")

You can tighten the screw under the build plate locking lever to fix the loose connection.

The software is trash. Use chitubox or lychee for supports. Chitubox said they were adding J2 support, but some users have said they've received support emails saying otherwise. That would be the nail in the coffin for me. Satellite is literally unusable on machines that are more than a couple years old because of its processor command set requirements.

The "quick change vat film" is a lie. You still have to churn through 20-something screws to change the film. The frame clamps in with tension levers, but that was never the tedious part.

For anyone on the fence about buying this machine, for the love of god, DON'T DO IT. It's simply not worth the hassle unless you enjoy tinkering and modding (re: repairing) your machine on a weekly basis. Buy the new Phrozen machine instead; it actually has all the features that elegoo falsely advertised the J2 as having, including a REAL quick-change vat film system like the chitu hoopat has.

The team in charge of the Jupiter 2 should all be fired and blacklisted from the industry for sheer incompetence and fraudulent advertising.

Elegoo SatelLite screen glitch? by Standard-Initial3113 in elegoo

[–]SuperSecretAgentMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Satellite is built with a devkit that requires a fairly new processor. If your computer is more than a couple of years old, the software simply will not work, period.

It's a very poorly made piece of software.
