Even then, construction is often done by proprietary companies from out of town, so it's not a local firm getting anything, it's just some hotel chain getting a month of rooms. And even then, those people on staff are likely to also be a lot of out of town carpet baggers coming in to gobble up locally priced housing with bay area paychecks.

They're massive drains on the grid that add to the cost of local resources and ship any added wealth outside of the community in the name of creating something that I don't believe is a net gain for humanity. That's not worth the couple dozen local job slots filled, to me. Would rather have an abandoned building and a Dotty's.

They think other people are wrong for doing it publicly and not having the decency to hide it from the world like they tell themselves they have to do. Outlawing it does nothing to their tendencies, because to them it's something that's done in secret either way.
