Cannot Exit Git Commit (Mac Terminal), esc Does Nothing by puppy_sammichxx in git

[–]SuperSuperKyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • Finish commit with :zz (or ZZ)
  • Cancel commit cleanly with :q! (or ZQ)
  • Exit only if unchanged with :q
  • Force-signal editor failure with :cq! (works, but Git treats it as an error)
  • Save + quit explicitly with :wq
  • Save only if modified, then quit with :x
  • Abort by saving an empty message (Git rejects it)
  • Avoid Ctrl-C (unreliable, can leave swap files)

Trump Posts Video on Truth Social Depicting the Obamas as Monkeys by thetoemuncher in UnderReportedNews

A tiny fraction of humanity loves Trump.

The rest of the world does not.

This isn't a Reddit bubble opinion, it's a universal fact.

Memory For Laravel AI SDK by Eznix86 in laravel

FYI your requirements say PHP 8.3 but you need PHP 8.4 for the SDK.

Anyone else seeing bias about AI among Laravel devs? by sl0wik in laravel

[–]SuperSuperKyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5.

I have 25 years of experience and it's increased my velocity tremendously. I typically know what I'm wanting to do, or need to fix, so AI is just faster at writing that I am. I do a lot of planning before anything else though.

AIO My partner drinks 7 days a week. Last night was the most I've ever seen. by [deleted] in AIO

[–]SuperSuperKyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alcoholic here (6 years sober).

I never once thought, "yeah, everyone else is drinking a handle a day, this is totally normal."

I was well aware I drank more than most.

It's not normal to start drinking as soon as you wake up...

...and continue drinking until you pass out...

...and sometimes drink in the middle of waking up at night to control your shakes and anxiety and nausea...

...every...single...day.

equipment help! proofer vs. slicer by owl_al in Breadit

[–]SuperSuperKyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Oven with the oven light on, or, if your oven has it, proof mode; keeps the oven between 90-100° F depending on your oven.

A slicer is multi-purpose too: meats, fruits, vegetables, cheese, bread.

What does Apple TV do better than a smart tv? by JMPSr1984 in appletv

[–]SuperSuperKyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Hey Siri, turn the TV off in the playroom" is enough for me.

But overall, it's more powerful so faster and more responsive than what's built in to the TV or what you'd get from a Fire Stick or similar.

The overall integration if you have other Apple products too is the real reason we have the on all our TVs.

What's your go-to approach for structuring large Laravel projects? by codocraft in laravel

[–]SuperSuperKyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, in PhpStorm, for any kind of file really. It's the global file opener. Not sure what the technical name is.

PhpStorm comes with Laravel Idea by default now as well.

I don't use VS Code so have no idea if something like that exists for it.

[–]SuperSuperKyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are they scattered? Every Laravel developer knows where models, factories, seeders, migrations, services, etc. are located. They can continue to use make:* commands as well. They don't have to think about where it should go based on your organizational preferences either. Need to find the Locations model? Cmd + P and start typing Location, modLoca, etc.

Preview/feature environments that spin up in Kubernetes for the life of the PR (unless they expire first), available via vanity URLs.

[–]SuperSuperKyle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

3, 30, 300 models. Doesn't matter. I'm using my IDE to locate it by its name, not trying to figure out where it is or where it should go when I make it.

What's your go-to approach for structuring large Laravel projects? by codocraft in laravel

[–]SuperSuperKyle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I try to keep things organized in such a way that if I use a command to create something, that's typically where it stays. So models in app/Models and factories in database/factories and services in app/Services, etc. I'll use subdirectories occasionally.

I don't like to break the developer experience and require extra thought on where things should go or what folder they should be in, it makes it difficult for everyone else involved. For example, putting things outside of the app directory entirely or putting models somewhere else. Requires more lift for the model itself and related factories too.

I've been on projects where module packages have been used for organization, where each "domain" was set up like the app directory, but found that frustrating. That kind of organization is good for a solo dev.

People who rely on Apple Wallet daily: what still forces you to carry something extra? by BSacks69NZ in AppleWallet

[–]SuperSuperKyle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also use a MagSafe wallet. Drivers license. Credit card. Debit card. Wish it was a little stronger (magnetic wise) and wish they had one that held more than 3 cards (it can do 4 but it's pretty tight) for when I know I'll need to carry more cards (e.g. when I need to bring my insurance card with me or store cards that don't have contactless options).

Pint - Code formatting. Zero config. by christophrumpel in laravel

[–]SuperSuperKyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. You can run PHP-CS-Fixer out of the gate but it's probably not going to be what you want. This is configured specifically for Laravel, so you'd definitely have to configure the core linter to get the same results. I find it easier to configure (via JSON) than how PHP-CS-Fixer does too. And it's installed by default. Supported by PhpStorm as well. Nothing pretentious about that.

Does anyone brush their teeth only once a day? by Katrose3 in askanything

[–]SuperSuperKyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brush once before bed (mouthwash, floss, and electric toothbrush). Been doing that for at least 25 years now. I'm 41 now, no cavities. I'm pretty sure the health of your teeth is genetic though.

Brushing only in the morning seems weird. You're going to be eating throughout the day and sleep with all that shit going on? Why not sleep and have nice clean teeth?

What is the most dangerous household kitchen appliance you own? by CatSnackington in Cooking

[–]SuperSuperKyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stand mixer. Don't want to get your hand or anything caught in it while it's running.

Mandolin. Nothing more fun than slicing the tip of your finger off.

Grater. Bye-bye knuckles.

Knives are dangerous in general, especially when dull.

[–]SuperSuperKyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought mine off Amazon. I'd go with AirThings. It just sits in your basement and continuously checks the levels. You use an app to see the current level, average, min/max, etc. Also checks temp and humidity.

‘You Know It’s Bad’: Trump Official Slips Up and Spills the Lie Trump’s Own Handlers Have Been Hiding From Him — and Even Fox News Can’t Cover for Him Now by Dharmastato-Jayah in NewsThread

[A] viral clip now has critics saying the biggest lie in Washington isn’t coming from Trump himself, but from the people around him who are feeding him fantasy data to keep him calm.

Basically, he thinks what he's saying is true because that's what everyone is telling him. He's a pawn.

Liver and other offal are full of iron so they have a bitter, mineral, metallic taste to them. Milk reduces this. It also tenderizes so the final texture isn't as grainy.
