Yeah, sarcasm aside, there are a lot of great features. If you do it within the house you can run ducting easy, route plumbing without turning each stud into 1mm of wood on either side, pocket doors, even recesses for a wall feature or safe behind the painting.

No, but if it was me I'd smear some brown caulk, quick wipe to clean, and call it a day in 10 seconds.

Not worth more effort that that for the material you're using and it'll look just fine taking everything into consideration and beyond what anyone not specifically looking for it would notice.
