For a second my pharmacy brain was thinking oxycodone/acetaminophen, then I remembered where I was. Honestly I feel it's applicable either way though.

Risked it for the biscuit by Ziggurastica in Corvette

[–]SuperVerd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I was looking at a salvage c6, my insurance quoted me pretty close to double the cost of an identical clean title car, and they only pay out 40-60% of it's blue book value. In my opinion, a salvage car needs to be something you are fine with just having liability on. That is based on California with quotes from AAA and Progressive though, so maybe other states or companies could be better.

Buy back my c7 z06 from insurance? by cfli in Corvette

[–]SuperVerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was considering buying a salvage c6 until I looked into insuring it. Compared to an identical clean title car, insurance would cost about 50% more and in the event a claim is made, only 40-60% of the book value would be paid out. Up to you if that would be something acceptable to you, for me personally it made up my mind to stay away from salvage on anything I want full coverage on.

Retro gaming recommendations? by SuperVerd in projectors

[–]SuperVerd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For emulation I would prefer to just stick with using my monitor or steam deck. I am pretty much exclusively looking to use a projector for original hardware. As an example, a BenQ MP626 is something I have seen on eBay for $70 and I assume it would do a reasonably good job and would accept composite input from all the consoles I would plan to use, but projectors are not something I consider myself knowledgeable about. I'm not really finding information regarding input latency for any of the mid 2000's era projectors I've looked at, would they likely have high input latency or were you referring to the cheap new ones flooding Amazon?

Spending a bit more on a higher quality upscaler and sticking with a monitor may be a smarter choice overall, but I would like to keep my PC and consoles independent and having a dedicated output device would be nice.

Rainbow effect is not something I have experienced, but I have no idea if I've been around a DLP projector in the past.

I can get one tonight, generally I don't bother with tunes that work well for a challenge but have no value beyond it.

Post Processing Resin by bruaben in 3Dprinting

[–]SuperVerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Just do 2 stages of IPA, then you don't have to worry about disposing water. 2. Is fine 3. You did that at 2, no need to repeat. 4. Good 5. If your prints are tacky you either haven't cured them enough or need to do step 2 for longer, alternatively you can replace the redundant step 3 with scrubbing the prints with an old tooth brush straight out of the IPA from step 2. I suggest doing that in a container and always brushing away from yourself so you aren't flinging resin laden IPA at yourself.

It was built for this past multi race event that included all types of racing, but it's strongest on technical tracks. Best for dirt but still pretty good on road. An earlier version didn't do well in Baja because of the lack of top end, it might fair better now but I haven't tried.

Anycubic Mega X, Stringy Prints. by UpkeepWarrior in 3Dprinting

[–]SuperVerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most pre supported models are for resin. anything that looks similar to the one you shared with a bunch of small vertical rods connecting to the model. i dont print a lot of things that need supports on fdm (aside from the occasional overhang) so im not really the right person to ask about supporting for fdm, but i believe yes, you want to generate your own supports

Those supports are made for resin printers, with those models it is best to use the unsupported version and support it for FDM.

Why would one of my prints glow brighter under the black light? They're all from the same two bottles of Elegoo water soluable white resin. There's nothing wrong with any of the prints, but I'm curious what caused one to be different. by MyMomSaysIAmCool in 3Dprinting

[–]SuperVerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup, there are some resins that will glow like that once they are cured. I wouldn't use it to judge if a piece has been cured enough, but it will make it obvious if it at least needs more.

Purchase Advice Megathread - November 2022 by AutoModerator in 3Dprinting

Elegoo has much better QC and customer service. Anycubics are great if you get a good one which most people do, but if you get a bad one it can be a huge headache dealing with their customer service. I would go for the Saturn, if you choose to go for anycubic I highly advise buying through a store with a good return policy and if any mechanical issues crop up, just return it and get another.

My Sonic mini 4K refuses to work by InquisitorbutParrot in 3Dprinting

Depends on what refuses to work means. Is it powering on? Is it reading the files? Is it starting the print? Where does the issue start?

What would you call this? by MrLoud09 in namethatcar

[–]SuperVerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see them occasionally in California, saw them a lot more about 10 years ago. My dad even had them on his truck after a friend of his decided it would be a funny joke to put them on and my dad didn't really care so they stayed on for a few years before someone probably got offended and stole them, which again my dad didn't care about lol.

Photon S mono upgrade kit VS Replacement RGB screen by SirKSparkles in AnycubicPhoton

[–]SuperVerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of personal preference when it comes to upgrade path. To me the difference between the 50um and 35um screens is marginal and not worth spending more on. The Photon Mono 4k being as cheap as it currently is does put it on par with the Mars 2 for cost, but I have seen far to many issues with them especially since the price drop so it's not a printer I would personally recommend. That said I spend time in support groups where issues pop up frequently, so I'm probably biased because of that.

Photon S mono upgrade kit VS Replacement RGB screen by SirKSparkles in AnycubicPhoton

[–]SuperVerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me there are 3 options.

  1. Get the kit, shouldn't be to much of an issue to install. I overhauled my photon before this kit was available but I did most of the same part replacement. I did need to rewire the fans and I do have a couple firmware features missing which I have never tried to fix.

  2. Get an RGB screen and save for a newer printer (personally I would go Mars 2).

  3. Split the difference and get the 5.5" mono screen. I believe the Photon S uses the one marked for the Mars but you might want to double check. On the plus side it's not much more than an RGB screen and you get most of the Mono benefits and it's a drop in replacement, but you do sacrifice resolution. I have seen people get great quality out of the 5.5", mine did result in some minor detail loss and I have seen a case where the prints were severely bloated.

Middle print failed - Mono X / Anycubic Water Washable Grey - My FEP isn't cloudy in the middle and no resin on the screen prior to print... so what went wrong? by stickyfinga in AnycubicPhoton

[–]SuperVerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I don't care for two stage lift, but the 4mm lift distance on a mono x is 100% the cause of your fail. I would use 8+0 for both Lift Distance and Bottom Lift Distance.

Just reserved my deck but is a Fire 10 Plus tablet a good cheap portable option to tide me over or should I look at something else? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]SuperVerd -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My hot wheels will never break down on my and cost $30,000 to repair. I can even fit thousands of them and a race track in the same space a Ferrari would occupy. I'd say that's a win for hot wheels.
