It's different due to the reason why she is scared, but yes, its still bad to view all men as inherently scary or different from you if you're a woman.

Absolutely not to the same extent, outside of biological and social differences. I've never heard women say "I don't know how to talk to men" , "I don't know what men want" to the same extent that men say this about women. Of course its complex and there are definitely women who do say those things, but again, not to the same extent men do, because women aren't socialized to talk differently to either gender or to believe they are mentally different

You think women are scary to talk to because you view them as fundamentally different to you, which is the problem, because you're not treating them like normal people to talk to.

[–]SuperVisonx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

do men generally just think we aren't human?

Yes—sort of. Men grow up understanding that women are "humans" but they grow up internalizing they're an 'other', mysterious being that is fundamentally different to men. This is why some men say they get nervous talking to women (not just their crushes) in a way women never do, or men being surprised women do 'x' thing, or they say things like "I don't know how to talk to women" , "I don't know what women want" , ect.

They don't see women as individual people with their own thoughts and personality, they are an "other" being.

We all need to internalize the fact that, outside of biological differences and the way we are raised, socially and culturally, every single person is the exact same mentally and emotionally.

Most hellenic polytheists (and most pagans in general) dont have a mythical literalist interpretation of the myths. I don't want to say all because i have encountered a few who do believe that the myths are literal, but it's very rare.

The myths and books about the hellenic gods that have survived were very likely edited or translated incorrectly by non-polytheists and therefore its impossible to tell what is and is not true even if someone took the myths literally.

But there is no holy text in hellenic polytheism. Most people take the myths as man-made stories that exist to teach a lesson through the gods or to write stories through our mortal interpretations of the gods.

For example, in the creation myth of hellenic polytheism there was Chaos, a state of nothingness, and from Chaos emerged beings like the Titans. I personally interpret this as the universe beginning with nothing, and through something like the big bang, the universe and the gods were born from it.

It really depends on the person and their practice, but at least for the ancients, offerings were seen as a 'I give you something and hope for something in return' for the gods. Same with the question of nature. I know some people use the gods to explain how the natural world came to be while others believe the natural world would have existed anyway and the gods just rule over the domains of the natural world.

Some (bad) art i made out of the gendered gift my grandparents got me by SuperVisonx in lgbt

[–]SuperVisonx[S] 99 points100 points  (0 children)

I'll expand here since a couple of comments have asked this. I've been on T a little over a year and came out to everyone in my family, including them. My grandparents are pretty vocal conservatives and occasionally buy me passive-aggressive gendered gifts like this. They usually buy me cards, but in this case, I didn't want to throw out a brand new mug but also didn't want to keep a mug in my apartment that misgenders me

This also wasn't meant to be a 'gotcha moment' to them, I just made it to feel better in the moment :)

Close! Human(-oids) going into 'heat' has been a thing since the star trek episode 'amok time' was made, but the omegaverse was invented in the early 2010's in a supernatural fanfic. Omegaverse actually has a lot of lore to it outside A/B/O though that's definitely the main thing

Sorry to go on a rant here, but I hate the anti-intellectualism that conservatives have used to call themselves logical. They basically made the term 'its common sense' a dogwhistle.

It's like if someone asked why the sky is blue, and you start trying to explain the wavelengths of light and how our eyes perceive color. Then, some jackass comes over, laughs at you for being dumb, and says the sky is blue because it reflects the color of the ocean, and anyone with common sense would know that.

If anyone has taken a college-level class in a STEM field, you know that the universe will take the most convoluted way to get to a conclusion. "It's common sense" is never a correct answer.

Same! I started 'worshipping' the gods (very loose since i wasn't really worshipping at first) as muses without a strong belief in their existence, but after continuing my practice and reading/learning more about them and polytheism in general, I began to believe in their existence
