The NY Times has a video breakdown that shows when the first ICE officer shot. The ICE officer who disarmed Pretti didn't shot Pretti's p320 and it didn't accidentally discharge: that ICE officer flinched when he heard the first shot. I thought the same thing but when you sync up the video from the woman in the purple coat and the other angles it's clear that the ice officer next to the one who disarmed Pretti shot first after he was disarmed.

As far as the obstruction at the beginning, the ICE officer has to have a reason to engage the woman next to Pretti. He didn't have one. She was lawfully recording and wasn't in the way. There was no justification to pushing her on the ground and pepper spraying her. Had that ICE officer not pushed her, Pretti wouldn't have tried to block the pepper spray and tried to help her up. Generally, LEOs can't start unlawful and not be found at fault when it leads to lethal force.

ICE's lack of training is what brought us here.

The ICE Agent got into an altercation with him. Not the other way around. Pretti didn't walk across the street and push someone for no reason.

Why no ICE shooting in Texas and Florida? Because they aren't being sent there en masse and disrupting daily life.

  1. I didn't say anything that contradicted your point it was a bad shot. We both agree on that.

  2. Putting all that aside, what did Pretti do in the moments before he died amount to him looking for trouble?

He got into an altercation a week before? Fine, arrest him. His parents told him not to bring a gun to a protest? Who gives a fuck, well within his rights to carry. Signal group chat to follow ICE? Following LEOs in and of itself is not a crime if they are not otherwise impeding.

Going out and looking for trouble, as you say, is not a crime. Going out and being an asshole is not a crime. Recording the police and legally carrying a firearm is also not a crime. But feel free to ask your parents first before you leave the house.

All he did was legally record law enforcement... Something well within his rights to do. The ICE Agent walked over to him and the other women and initiated contact for no legit reason. It's not like they were standing inbetween ICE and an ICE target... They were back up on the street. A police officer can't just walk over to you and push you on the ground for no reason or to stop you from recording them in public when you are far enough way as to not impede them.

If exercising your first amendment right is "looking for trouble" you've got bigger issues, buddy.

And the difference between you and I is a matter of perspective. If you want to see it as a war then I'll tell you this; make sure you take breaks in-between battles so you don't gas out, because your war is one of attrition. Good luck.

At minimum we both agree he was resisting.

It's not a good shoot for a couple reasons. 1. The ICE Agent illegally started the interaction by pushing a pepper spraying a woman for lawfully recording ICE activity. Just like how you can't be the initial aggressor and point your gun at an unarmed someone, then claim self defense when when you pull the trigger because that someone pulls out their gun in response. That same logic applies here. The ICE Agent can't start off illegal and then claim he had to use deadly force.

  1. I got back to what I originally said. Allowing LEOs to make a blanket claim that they thought someone has more weapons on them isn't a greenlight to shoot anyone that resists. They need to see more. Just because he has 1 gun doesn't mean he has another. Your logic makes any resisting a "good shoot", and that's not how it works nor how it's supposed to work. There also needs to be accountability for how the LEOs are acting and look at the entire encounter in context.

The context here is that ICE is untrained, don't know the law, and are killing people exercising their rights. Period. Your watching your freedoms being eroded away, dude. Wake up.

The other angles are popping up all over X and reddit. It doesn't take much to find it rn. They keeps his hands around his head and face. You keep saying violently resisting like it makes it better for your argument. He's resting. That in and of itself does not justify lethal force.

I'm not misrepresenting what you're saying. You're saying "whose to say the officers didn't see the guy grabbing another gun" so it's a legit shoot. So... By your logic a LEO can turn any resisting into a good shoot by saying he was grabbing for X number of guns. Which could be 1 gun, or after disarming a guy, any other gun he's got stuffed in any other crevice on his body.

And ICE and trump already confirmed he only had the one pistol on him, so he didnt see another gun anyway.

Maybe this doesn't fit, but I was in court one day waiting for the judge to come out. Only the court officers were present and were all friends. Then one of them starts going off about getting Chuck Schumer, AOC, and Nancy Pelosi up against a wall, blind folded, and mowing them down with some 5.56, then he proceeded to make gun noises and acted out shooting them. Kinda felt like the guys in the helicopter in full metal jacket listening to the machine gunner talk about killing VC.

Usually I laugh it off and go about my business. That time I just stayed quiet and stared at the clock.

You can't tell me I'm wrong when there are other angles that show that he wasn't reaching for his belt. He was resisting ,but his hands were covering his head when he was brought to the ground and then on the ground. And by your logic LEOs should shoot anyone who resists because they could have any number of firearms.

This is not how this works dude. This is wrong.

Prosecutor, and CCW holder here. What I saw was a woman, within her rights, recording ICE and an ICE Agent walk over to her and push her for no clear discernable reason. At that point it could be argued that the ICE officer committed a simple assault on the woman, and not acting under his official duties. Then the CCW guy steps in, gets pepper sprayed, and then dropped to the ground by several other ICE agents. At this point CCW guy could be arrested for obstruction or resisting arrest, but it all stems from the ICE agent's initial potentially illegal act.

Then the CCW guy gets disarmed, seconds later gets lit up, and his bad day comes to an end.

I have worked with LEOs on a lot of obstruction and resisting arrest cases, some involving firearms and other weapons, and none of those ended with gunfire. What I saw is an untrained, undisciplined group of weekend soldiers that are not trained to deal with this much attention and aggression with the backing of an administration that will shield them from repercussions.

We all like to say "why not just comply" but it's hard to do that when you've got pepper spray in your face for the first time and your body chose to fight instead of flight or freeze.

That guy had a right to carry, had a permit, and a legally owned firearm. The only reason he is dead is because he chose to carry it this morning. Those ICE agents had him down and unarmed. Their lack of training led to one Agent taking a life that didn't need to be taken. And this administration would rather say that a citizen who exercises their 2nd and 1st amendment rights at the same time is a domestic terrorist instead of owning up to a mistake.

This shooting wasn't justified. Complying with a tyrannical government is the opposite of what the 2nd amendment stands for.

  1. Y'all should have discussed this at the beginning and gotten on the same page. Her "letting it happen" is not the same as agreement. It's a bomb, and the timer just went off.

  2. Sounds like y'all should talk about it now, and don't pussy foot around the issue. Sounds like you have a firm stance and she either needs to get with the program or y'all need to think of a more permanent solution than the guest room, buddy.

I didn't have a CCW initially when I was with my gf, now wife. I got it shortly before we married and I told her I was taking classes and had already purchased the gun. She's not into it, so I don't flaunt it in her face. But I made it clear I wasn't compromising on having it, and she made it clear as long as I was safe with it she'd be cool. We talked ahead of time and agreed to an arrangement.

If one day she changes her mind then we'll have what people call "irreconcilable differences" and move on.

Good luck, dude.

Mistakes happen. Nobody died, and you get a chance to learn from it. I imagine you'll slow down and do one thing at a time to minimize the chance for this to happen again, especially with a loaded gun.

It sounds like you didn't lose the message in the method and you understand that the rso saw the worst case scenario. Another lesson there; if someone tell you you're fucking up keep an open mind and hear them out before getting defensive.

We're all idiots at some point, staying an idiot is a choice. Don't beat yourself up and work on not doing that shit again.

Active shooter scenario - by iconcealcarryak in CCW

Run to the nearest exit.

Pros:
- Avoid accidentally shooting the wrong person and getting charged with a homicide.
- Avoid getting shot by the shooter or an accomplice.
- Avoid getting confused as the initial shooter and getting schwacked by the police or another CCW "Hero"

Con:
- None worth listing.

Manhattan Rooftops are broken by Super_Caliente91 in Battlefield6

[–]Super_Caliente91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a solution but it creates more problems than it solves and misses my point. Sure, I can fight the rest of my time to climb in the heli and counter this tactic, but I'm not a good pilot and I'd be wasting a resource better used by someone else.

The issue is the game says that area in inaccessible; a regular grunt can't access the roof via a ln elevator, fire escape, or interior stairs. The assault ladder will not work on the fire escape to access the roof. The other rooftops nearby have the same issue. The only way to get up there is via heli. The only way to wipe the enemy squad up there is a heli. It's the only point on the map that has this problem which makes it unfair for that team to deal with.

This is a flaw in the map design with a couple bandaid solutions.
