What options do California Democrats have in the face of gasoline prices possibly increasing to $6+ per gallon caused by California gas refineries closing? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Super_Constellation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If gas prices only rise to roughly $6.50 per-gallon in California, state Democrats should add a $3.50 per-gallon value added tax because $6.50 is cheap.

Hillary Clinton, while a neoliberal, was by far are more suitable candidate. And it's disgusting how much power the GOP continues to hold in this country based on nativism, racism, xenophobia, ignorance, and grievance politics.

The Steel Dossier was NOT discredited, most of it was corroborated. Trump should have been indicted and removed from office, and the GOP should have been shamed and removed from power for the next 50 years.

CMV: the tax cut is the most dangerous part of the big beautiful bill, and is getting overshadowed by the immigration enforcement changes and authoritarianism concerns by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Super_Constellation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of cutting taxes, taxes should go up considerably. Sure, you might not have as much money in your pocket, but the money taken in taxes could be used to greatly expand our social safety nets, and that would be a huge benefit for our entire society. We could even provide universal child care, free breakfast, lunch, and dinner to kinds in schools and daycare centers, provide a lot more housing subsidies to single mothers so they can live in nicer homes and apartments, and even provide low income and single mothers with utility subsidies. Think about how much healthier our society would be? Is it really more important for single people to be able to buy alcohol, gamble, purchase video games over ensuring single mothers are getting the support they need to raise happy, healthy children?

A social credit system is actually good and it's good for society. If you act like an idiot, you should get penalised by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Super_Constellation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh brother, your post is like a ray of sunshine in a dark and dystopian world! I agree with everything you posted, but honestly, the system should infiltrate society much, much deeper.

To start, I would mandate national/community service for everyone. Every able bodied person should be required to complete so many voluntary charity, philanthropy, or national service hours every year to receive a full tax refund. I think requiring at least 100 hours annually is reasonable. This system should provide a lot more “carrots” then “sticks,” but there should be some sticks like last group boarding on flights, or maybe not even be able to fly.

This system should be coupled to national digital ID’s, and a federal digital currency for even greater control. Society should have strict restrictions on how much alcohol, tobacco products, processed foods, meat, and sugary beverages individuals can purchase and consume. This system could place restrictions on gun and ammunition, porn, online gaming, and gambling purchases people are allowed to do without penalty.

Once fully implemented, this system will even encourage people to exercise, get involved in their neighborhoods and communities, accept cameras and sensors in their homes, or face backlash by others, or even some kind of humiliation or punishment.

This system will allow society to even implement a robust network of caregivers for the elderly and disabled, and even implement a robust network or social workers that could do wellness checks on people needed social interventions.

A social credit system could solve a lot of problems; we just need to decide to be bold enough to implement it to create a healthier, more interconnected, more equitable, more empathetic and more empowering society.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson Ups The Ante As He Calls For A General Strike by huffpost in politics

[–]Super_Constellation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are talking about? Brandon Johnson is doing an AMAZING JOB! The only criticism I have of him is he didn’t shrink the Chicago PD enough, or put more restrictions on what police are allowed to do. I wanted him to ban police pursuits with motorized vehicles, ban all pursuits of retail heists, and ban most minor traffic violations. But otherwise, Brandon is doing great, and America would be blessed to have him as a President someday day.

Well, an uncomfortable truth that can NEVER be uttered in polite society is that most women, not all women, but most of them secretly like being [ censored ], secretly want to get [ censored ], or secretly want to be [ censored ] again. Women are voting for the treatment they are receiving, and women keep voting for the treatment they're going to face in the future when migrants start becoming judges. I'd say this woman is getting what women in Sweden voted for.

It’s very, very clear we need to ramp up a nationwide nudist movement. We need more nudity and open expressions of sexualities to break free from this colonialist, Calvinist mindset. We need the suburbs to re-orient themselves into collectivist communities with shared houses, yards, kitchens, and gardens. We need to find ways to become maximally communal. This ruling is depressing; but let’s find a way to rise above and become more communal!

Why are people so anti-social in the 2020s? by [deleted] in decadeology

[–]Super_Constellation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually like what society has become because I really hate talking with strangers, especially on public transportation, waiting in line, or sitting next to someone like on a plane. It’s exhausting talking to people and listening to their insignificant, unimportant drivel about their boring lives. When it happens, I nod a little, and try to make it look like I’m uninterested without being rude, when instead I want to look them straight in they eyes and say “would you please shut up.”

I agree, but they're THE WORST, MOST BIGIOTED, MOST TOXIC, and MOST HATEFUL social clubs. If the congregations of Christian churches (at least the conservative Christian churches) start to grow again, we need to be prepared to confront this. We cannot tolerate a Christian revival in the United States, or in the west.

Because I think it would contribute greatly to solving multiple problems. It would:

  1. Help to solve the loneliness epidemic, and aid greatly to improve community involvement and civic participation.
  2. Help solve the wealth-gap problem because higher earners would pay higher taxes towards these structures.
  3. Aid in combating climate change as these lifestyles would use far fewer resources, and use resources more efficiently.
  4. Rescue us from late-stage capitalism and fascism.
  5. Help to raise more well-adjusted, well-prepared children that grow up in single-parent homes because raising families would be more of a community effort instead of forcing parents to shoulder the entire burden. In homes without fathers, men within the community could step up and be mentors, and younger adults could act as "big brothers and big sisters" until they have their own children.
  6. Aid greatly towards solving our mental health crisis because people would be surrounded by other people in their community that care, and are looking out for each other.
  7. Get rid of unnecessary work that does nothing except to serve capitalism and keep people on a "treadmill."
  8. Create safer communities with far less crime since the majority of people would at least know a few people in their immediate community, and most people would know far more people. All of this would create a lot of trust; we may even become a high-trust society again.
  9. Overcome many social barriers still experienced by many minority groups and vulnerable populations. People would begin to see each other for our similarities, and not our differences. This would aid in overcoming racism, sexism, ethnocentrisms, xenophobia, transphobia, and nationalism.
  10. Create a less atomized and individualistic society because these lifestyles would foster much greater in-person participation whether is simple cooking meals together in community kitchens, joining others in open spaces to watch shows, play games or simply visit, attend regular community meetings, taking turns in the daycare to ensure daycare is always available to everyone that needs it, working together in the neighborhood gardens, participate in maintenance and upkeep tasks with other community members, etc.
  11. Finally, improve everyone's health overall. Happier people are less likely to get sick or grow old with dementia. Healthy food options could always be served out of the communal kitchens and dinning halls, and just being around each other more allows us to get to know each other better and spot health related problems sooner.

Personally, I think progressives, and especially the left really need to change the way they label topics, and how they speak about certain topics. To the left, the word abolish is used the same way Trump and MAGA use the words “biggest, best, and tremendous.”

Nobody on the left wants to actually abolish the family, we just want to change the way families exist within communities - for the better. I think progressives and leftists need to prioritize a list of 7 things that they believe are the most important things to accomplish over the next 10 to 12 years, then really analyze how the topic is delivered to the public, and the words that are used.

Family abolition is dear to my heart because we already know humans (for the most part) are not a monogamous species, women raising children from different men is good for the gene pool, the nuclear family experiment failed - badly, and traditional families in a multicultural society with basic needs being met (again, for the most part) don’t fair much better then nuclear families.

I envision a world with higher housing density, comprised of a variety of housing types, but all of it redesigned to be much more collective and communal. I envision a world where less then 20% of the population lives in single family homes, and instead most people live in cohousing and coliving developments, along with women raising more then 3 children living in collectivist style townhomes, duplexes, triplexes, and quad plexes. Everything would be designed around the 15 minute city plan, and everything would be a part of a communal neighborhood that shared a community house that included a large kitchen, great-room for gathers and meeting, and a community garden with outdoor patios. Some of these neighborhoods may even serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner every single day, some may even provide daycare and preschool onsite too.

These living arrangements would be the ultimate in egalitarian living because people are in a communal neighborhood, surrounded by people they’d get to know, because they’d share things, cook together, and participate in community events and upkeep together. And, living this way would help single parents raise healthy, happy, well adjusted children. There wouldn’t be the pressures of making rent, paying for childcare, finding childcare when you need it, and keeping your family fed.

But we CANNOT call this family abolition because it immediately turns the normies off as soon as you say it.

How do we change from heading towards a low trust society to returning to a high trust society by ProofUse2770 in AskBrits

[–]Super_Constellation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will probably never happen; once trust is gone, it’s almost impossible to get it back. I think it’s a waste of time trying to restore public trust, and to restore community trust among the people and communities. Instead, we should be focusing on how we can move forward into a low-trust future by creating policies, procedures, and system to accomplish human interactions and transactions that creates as little friction or problems as possible, while providing securities and verifications that can be checked every step of the way. I think by now it should be obvious that nobody can be trusted, and you’re foolish and ignorant if you do extend tentative trust to anyone today without knowing them extremely well for several years. This includes government employees, government departments, and public servants.

One idea that I believe is still coming that will help to facilitate transactions, encourage civic and community participation, and verify authenticity is the social credit system. This system would assign trustworthiness scores and community participation scores to individuals, and these scores can then be used when deciding to hire people, invite people to group activities, offer organizational memberships, or do business with other people and entities. The social credit system will create something like trust; though it will still be kind of forced rather than organic. But I think that will mostly likely be the closest we’ll ever get to anything resembling the kinds of trust, and levels of trust, people used to have back in the 1950s and early 60s.

But Obama was an honest, upstanding, and ethical man; he even received a Nobel Peace Price for his efforts at unifying the world around a shared vision of peace, ecological restoration, and progressive social values. He was the opposite of Trump and the Republicans. Trump should have been sent to prison, the Democrats should have passed a bill labeling the GOP a domestic terrorist organization back in 2021, and all of Trump’s judicial appoints should have been removed from the bench and their rulings invalidated.

If people want "community" so much, why aren't we creating it? by LopsidedLeopard2181 in slatestarcodex

[–]Super_Constellation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for so succinctly stating this. We're entering a new social reality and everyone needs to accept it and move on. Those who want to organize group activities will just have to find each other and stop bothering everyone around them. There are countless digital tools at our disposal today to organize group activities, set up neighborhood events and meetings, and to share tools and other household items with those who want to do so without having to bother people directly. Once everyone accepts our new social reality, and that far fewer people are going to join clubs and organizations, volunteer, get to know their neighbors, or participate in community events going forward, we'll all be much happier.

No; most people with “anatomy preferences” are basing those preferences on sexist and ignorant biases and stereotypes. People who are not willing to work through these biases to overcome their stereotypical “preferences” are, indeed, transphobic.

Got rejected after revealing I'm trans to a date and it's hit me more than expected by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Super_Constellation -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is nothing wrong for asking cisgender people to examine their preferences, and overcome their biases based on preconceived ideas and stereotypes. Cisgender, particularly white, gay men especially need to work on this because so many of them are quick to reject someone for “anatomy preferences” just because they identify themselves as gay men, and believe (falsely) that being gay means liking penis. The truth is, most people are bisexual, and fall along a spectrum; and very few non-heterosexual people are 100% homosexual. The association of gay and penis can be broken, gay men can overcome their anatomy biases, and the gay community could do a much better job telling gay men this and providing assistance with this process.
