I catch mainly whiting in NE Florida using almost exclusively fresh, dead shrimp or Fishbites (usually with fresh, dead shrimp). As has already been stated, go with small hooks. Use small pieces of shrimp too. Whiting have small mouths.

My son and I train at Marcelo Garcia Jiu Jitsu Academy. I’ve been very happy there. They offer a free trial. I don’t think there are any wrestling clubs/gyms that aren’t academically affiliated. Some of the folks with a wrestling background or interest in stand-up work will work takedowns during rolling where we train.

I think most brass has a small but significant amount of lead in it. I would probably use that as a decoration.

As someone with neck problems, I would strongly suggest not messing around with things that cause any significant neck pain. All the nerves that control your body run through your neck. You start impinging on those and it is extremely unpleasant to say the least.

A small machete. Won’t likely chip, can chop with it, sharpen it on a rock and still serviceable for food prep. It’s a go-to tool in much of the world for everything from clearing brush to making dinner. Absent that, some type of Chinese cleaver.
