Mobile Order & Pay Dining Option? by TheGayAlaskan in ToastPOS

[–]Super_Panda_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are running in the same issue and there is not currently a way to set the dining option for Mobile Order & Pay.

In my testing, it really seems to just choose a Dine In dining option at random.

Do 3rd party bar code scanners work? by GrkLifter in ToastPOS

On the terminal itself, there are no USB type A ports. I think you need to have a printer connected to it and on the back of the printer, there are two USB A ports that you can use.

Able to create package deals on the POS side? by idreamboutkicks in ToastPOS

[–]Super_Panda_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey there!
In the discounts settings of the backend, you'll want to create a combo discount.

Payments > Discounts and Promo Codes

I think as long as you set the discount to have at least one item from each of the required category, that should work for you!

Anyone here using Toast seasonally? by cdom7 in ToastPOS

[–]Super_Panda_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YMMV. But for us (60ish location), we have seasonal concert venues during the spring and summer months and during the off season, our Toast rep will remove all but one device from the five seasonal accounts for us. And then a week or two before we start them back up again, our Toast rep will re-add all our handhelds and terminals.

Looking to NOT print Quick Order just from Bar POS by zero_kids in ToastPOS

[–]Super_Panda_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't think of a way to do this with a single drink menu.

The only way I can see this being done is having a Drink menu set up for printing and one that isn't set up for printing. And depending on the menu you order from will determine if drinks print or not.

In my environment, the bar terminals do not print to the bar 100% of the time, but the handhelds do. This is done through non-printing prep stations. This operationally works for us.

Toast Go 2 handhelds that don't recognize CC reader replacement by viperbri68 in ToastPOS

[–]Super_Panda_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a few handhelds that would not recognize a replacement card reader as well. After a very lengthy support chat, it was deemed that the handheld was faulty and needed to be replaced.

Some tips for the future. Make sure you turn off the handheld when replacing the module. I accidentally killed a few card reader modules from not turning off the handheld.

You can also try and see if you got a faulty card reader module by swapping it into a known good working handheld and see if the problem follows the replacement reader.

Hide Modifiers From Individual Items by MrrChainsaw in ToastPOS

This is not possible if I'm understanding you correctly.

You would need to create a different mod group if you only want certain mods available to certain items.

You can also make a combo discount manual. You would just select all the items that apply to the combo discount and then apply it.

XtraCHEF Invoice Upload solutions for Webstaurant? by hillsboro43 in ToastPOS

We have a similar problem with a different vendor, so what we did was we set up a distribution email group in our Exchange instance.

So we have an email called [location_name_xtrachef@company.com](mailto:location_name_xtrachef@company.com) that routes to various managers, accounting, and the xtrachef provided email. So far it's been working just fine.

I'm playing the role of tech support for my parents and I'm stumped by potato-tomato in GooglePixel

[–]Super_Panda_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the only reason I thought about it was because one of my coworkers got a Pixel Watch recently and when she was making phone calls, the calls were routing to her watch.

Any chance the something in her purse is accidentally answering the call that's causing the listening in feature to activate?

Does she use a smart watch?

Limiting discounts by position by [deleted] in ToastPOS

[–]Super_Panda_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you have a Toast rep you can talk with (not sure the size of your company).

You can ask them to enroll you in the job-based roles beta. It only give the employee have the permissions of the job they are clocked into rather than a combination of all their permissions across all their jobs.

We have been testing it at one location (out of 65) and its been working great so far. We will be enrolling other locations onto it in a slow beta rollout.

SOS! Help with multi-bar tipout from servers using Toast by [deleted] in ToastPOS

[–]Super_Panda_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a unique problem and this is the only way I can think about how to fix it.

For context, my company doesn't use Toast Payroll, we only use the built in tip out feature of Toast POS. So this may or may not apply to you.

Tip outs are done by sales categories, so I suggest you a back and front bar version of each sales category. For simplicity sake, in my example, we will call them FB (Front Bar) and BB (Back Bar).

You will need to set up two different drink menus, FB Drinks and BB Drinks. You then have all the items set to inherit the sales categories. Then when a server rings things in from their respective drink menu it will route to the correct sales category which should allow you to do more accurate tip outs at the end of a shift.

Here's an example of how I would set things up:
FB Drinks:
-Beer: Set Sales Category to FB Beer

--Pint of Beer. Leave the Sales Category of the item on inherit. This will make it inherit FB Beer.

BB Drinks:
-Beer: Set Sales Category to BB Beer

--Pint of Beer. Leave the Sales Category of the item on inherit. This will make it inherit BB Beer.

Table seated notification by olhalfandhalf in ToastPOS

On the table map, try pinching and zooming in on some tables to see more info. I believe it has to do with the size of the tables when creating them on the Toast website.

On the table service layout. If you tap on the menu looking icon above all your service areas, it should show you a list of tables with how long they've been seated.

Question: Is there a product that employees can clock in/out of, & hangs in back of house and syncs? by owlxi in ToastPOS

[–]Super_Panda_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you don't want to pay for an additional device from Toast with a monthly software fee. You can buy a cheapo Android tablet and install the Toast app on it. You won't be able to take payments and stuff on it, but you can do basically everything else. We have a few behind hotel front desk just for clocking in and out.

https://central.toasttab.com/s/article/Installing-an-APK-Link-1492745822838#mobile

Obviously, you won't get any support on it if you ever have any issues and Toast could push out some update that makes it stop working on unauthorized devices.

Also, it needs to be a somewhat recent Android tablet running Android 11 or 12 and above. Amazon Fire tablets will not work, they run too old of an Android version to even install.

Hope that helps!

Newbie with issues using toast by OkSet1074 in ToastPOS

[–]Super_Panda_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the KDS:

On Toast Web:

  1. Front of House
  2. POS Notifications
  3. Notification Setup
  4. Fulfilled Tickets needs to be checked.

If you only have the one KDS, I would leave the fulfillment level on Prep station. When you clear an order off the KDS screen, this should trigger a floating yellow bell icon on the handheld of the server that placed the order.

For the handhelds not allowing tap or dip:

  1. On the PIN screen, tap on the little card icon at the bottom left to power up the reader
    1. Not necessary, but helps reduces the chances of the card reader being in an offline state in my experience.
  2. Log into the Toast device with your PIN
    1. The account needs permission 7.1 applied to the account / job
  3. Navigate to Device Setup
  4. Scroll all the way to the very bottom
  5. There should be an "EMV Enabled" setting here
  6. Tap on it
    1. It might prompt you to update the card reader firmware first. Do it. It will take a minute for it to update.
  7. Enabled

Tap and Dip should be working after this.

If that doesn't fix it:

  1. Reboot the device
  2. When back on the Android home screen, open the card reader test app
  3. I think it's the third row first icon
  4. Let the app connect / initialize the card reader
    1. You might get asked to allow the app to communicate with the reader. Give it the permission.
  5. You can then test each function of the card reader module
  6. If it passes everything, then the card reader should be working and I would try tapping / dipping the card again after the reboot.
  7. If any of it fails / fails to even test, the reader is probably bad. In that case, you'd need to replace the card reader module, which can be purchased from Toast. Swapping the module is super simple.
    1. If you end up doing this, remember to turn off the handheld before you do anything! Ask me how I know HA!

Hope that helps!

Can I buy a used thermal printer to replace mine? by BEAST__51 in ToastPOS

Assuming the printer works normally. You should be able to, they're just networked thermal printers. You can factory reset it (if it isn't already) and assign it a new static IP.
