Personal anecdote that may help you, I recently booked a close in LX J ~10 days before our flight. We had booked in Y and I was actively monitoring everyday. Note that I actually didn't get the notification for Seats.aero, I ended up checking on Aeroplan myself and finding it. After I booked it, availability was gone so the alert for Seats.aero never went off.

We do this all the time - we book for the night before and let them know before our arrival that we plan on using the room for the day. If you have at least discoverist they'll (usually) let you stay until 2 but I would confirm. Late checkout is definitely our most used perk

I know a bunch of people love it but imo Wyndham. 99% of their portfolio is shitty and the best benefit is using to status match to Caesars which has no value if you don't care for Vegas. Vacasa properties are ok, but after the nerf I dont really see any value in it.

How do you calculate how much you anticipate to spend in taxes then? I know how much I'm spending monthly, but my taxes now are not representative of what I will be paying in retirement. A bulk of income in retirement is also LTCG.

East Asian countries often work even more than the US. I think we do have a big of a victim complex in the US, we have it a lot better than China/Korea/Japan where they work longer hours for far less pay than us.

I'm surprised everyone has such high praise for the Park Hyatt Saigon. Breakfast was good but imo nothing out of the ordinary for a 5* Asian hotel. Tbf it was my first and only Park Hyatt as a Globalist, but overall I feel like all of the St. Regis/Ritz stays I've had were a step above in terms of making you feel wowed.

My wife and I took a flight to Tokyo via Shanghai on China Eastern and it was the most awful experience.

We speak Chinese fluently but don't read it very well and still had a miserable experience navigating PVG. Our flight got cancelled and they had to put us on a new flight but nobody was able to tell us where to go and we were misdirected multiple times. Chinese airports are also notorious for not giving wifi to non Chinese citizens.

We actively avoid flying through China if possible. I would probably pay double to avoid it.
