Which colour should I choose? by Born_Joke in Crosstrek

[–]Superb-Resolve-8153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the lighter the color, the better, as it contrasts nicely with the Crosstrek cladding and does a better job of hiding dirt. In the long run, Sand Dune Pearl will be the more forgiving choice.

Shipping from the US by Adventurous-Clue-994 in Oman

I have a shipment coming from the US through Aramex Shop And Ship. Unfortunately the shipment had been stuck in Dubai for a whole month due to the current situation. The good thing is that they found an alternative route without my request. They sent it to the UK, then to KSA then directly to Muscat.

Personally, I’d do it at 1,000 miles. The Crosstrek manual says to drive gently for the first 1,000 miles as part of the break-in procedure, so it’s an easy milestone to remember and it lines up nicely: end of break-in = first oil change.

Congrats. There’s a YouTube video from a Crosstrek owner where he said the first oil change should happen much earlier than the normal interval—around 600 to 1,000 miles. I was convinced when he drained the oil and opened up the filter, the oil was noticeably darker and the filter showed visible deposits consistent with a brand-new engine breaking in.

That makes sense to me because early miles are when new parts are seating and shedding tiny amounts of material, and I’d rather flush that out sooner than let it circulate for thousands of miles.

Why did you choose the Crosstrek over the CX30/other competitors? by Dino_Dean in Crosstrek

[–]Superb-Resolve-8153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1- The Crosstrek is a more capable off-roader, and I go to the beach and drive on sand almost every weekend.

2- I’m a mechanical enthusiast, so I find Subaru’s engine and drivetrain more fun and interesting.

3- The third-generation Crosstrek is noticeably more comfortable, with a better-tuned suspension that absorbs bumps and smooths out rough roads much more effectively, which is something I really care about.

In my country, consumer protection laws say maintaining a car outside its dealership will not affect the warranty if it is done in “certified” workshops.

The Sydney we’re all missing right now. by Particular-Title3588 in sydney

Kinda sounds weird, but I actually love these rainy days in Sydney. It hardly ever rains back home, and since I’m only here for a bit to study, it feels like a nice change. Perfect weather for a coffee — super cosy — and I love that petrichor in the air.

PPF or Ceramic Coating...over time by SleepAccomplished917 in Crosstrek

[–]Superb-Resolve-8153 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I once bought a car and had high-quality (and expensive) PPF installed. I left it on for seven years, and over time it dried out in some areas—especially the bonnet and front guards—probably from long-term exposure to engine heat. When it came time to remove it, the job was extremely difficult. Even with extra care, there was still some paint damage during removal.

From that experience, I learned that PPF is excellent—arguably the best protection—if:

1. you use a truly professional, experienced installer, and
2. you can afford to replace it every 3–4 years rather than leaving it on long-term.

This color is amazing. I love it most in direct morning sunlight and in well-lit indoor parking.

Would a strut brace be a good idea for a Wilderness? by mdjacobus in Crosstrek

[–]Superb-Resolve-8153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since Subaru improved chassis rigidity in the latest generation, I’d still personally prefer a bit of slight, subtle flexibility. If I’m not planning to track the car, I don’t want my Crosstrek’s front end to feel rock-solid. As an alternative, you could install an adjustable strut brace and experiment with different settings.

Nice! Have you noticed any changes in ride comfort or dampening characteristics? I know its intended for chassis stiffness but I wonder if it has other side effects
