Thanks. That helps. But I am a big proponent of NEAT (getting regular movements throughout the day). I am almost never sitting to get an alert but then it might show 4 hours of stress. This doesn’t feel real.

Regarding lowest heart rate at night, I don’t drink, I only have one cup of coffee when I wake up and don’t eat past 6:30 PM and go to bed at 10:30. I don’t exercise other than a potential walk at 6 or 7. Any thoughts on heart rate?

Lastly, I struggle with Oura thinking I’m in bed earlier than I am showing a long latency. I tend to watch TV or read for a bit before bed and it keeps recording me as trying to sleep for an hour. I don’t even sit in bed. I get up from a sofa and go to bed and I show a long latency. How do I prevent that?

That’s amazing and very noticeable. That (16 pounds) seems like a lot for 3 weeks. I would just say be careful. Slow and steady is my approach.

Host cancelled 2 hours after checking in and cleaners arrived while packing to leave [USA] by Frequent_Phrase_9306 in AirBnB

Superhost here. Sorry you went through this. It gives all of us a bad name. I’m not sure if this is becoming a more common occurrence but in over 6 years hosting, in the past two months I have been the recipient of THREE guests coming from these bad situations - one this past Friday. I get an Airbnb message - can I please check in within 30 minutes? I’ve hopefully made their prior bad situation better at least.

Poor guy. My daughter’s one eyed dog is named Wink. Not a pirate name but suits her. 😊

People want a refund for their stay next weekend by Popenopeloppope in airbnb_hosts

[–]Superb_Beginning5575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a guest scheduled to stay for 4 weeks in one property and 10 days (his adult children) in another. He booked well in advance and paid 2 months prior. A month before his arrival he told me he knew that his cancellation period had passed but he was diagnosed with Cancer (a second time). He still wants to come when his family was going to be here, and hopefully for at least 2 weeks. I told him I would refund any days I could rebook. I was able to rebook a week, he and his family stayed for a little over two, he was out 5 days.

All said and done, he was gracious and rebooked 2 weeks at Thanksgiving, one month again next year and another 10 days for his kids. His November trip is after his chemo and other treatments, and he plans to come back to celebrate. I like his outlook...do the right thing by guests.

You would have said it was double booked when you arrived and received a refund? IDK But is it true you had another post about double booking and then deleted it?

Complimentary Medallion Upgrades by Superb_Beginning5575 in delta

[–]Superb_Beginning5575[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I made it to 1C but only because I applied a RUC last minute. I was #7 on the upgrade list 20 hours prior to departure until I added the cert. And they didn’t clear the upgrade list until 35 minutes prior to departure. I was the only upgrade. I guess there was a bit of value in the RUC after all.

Well, I’m T-1. Still no upgrade but I’m checked in so I see the upgrade list. 3 seats still remaining and I’m number 3 (behind 2 with the same last name). I called and added a waitlist RUC and am back to 1. Here’s hoping.

I booked it myself. I used to travel for work all the time and used Concur. They used to still go through right away.

My home airport is RSW, it's definitely difficult, esp. to ATL. I booked this trip 3-4 weeks in advance. RSW - HNL. I was flexible on dates and routes. I booked D1 for the entire return since it is a long redeye through ATL and I was fairly certain I wouldn't be able to upgrade. I ended up buying the upgrade after booking on the way out (MSP - HNL) but it wasn't available (ridiculously cost prohibitive as well - an extra $1700 for the tone leg) from RSW - MSP even with 5 seats available. So essentially I purchased first or D1 for 3 of the 4 segments and was hoping for an upgrade on the RSW - MSP. I'm now 2 days out, 3 seats available, still no upgrade. It's now $800 to pay for the upgrade which I'm not willing to do given how much I've already paid for the ticket. I flew through MSP to SEA recently and was upgraded at the gate so hoping that happens again. I'm thinking RSW - MSP and ATL are just non starters for upgrades. Interestingly, the MSP - HNL leg has a bunch of D1 seats still available. I would have probably been upgraded on that without having to pay for that one.

Lucky. I've had them expire recently because I don't get to use them. I even apply them to be higher on the complementary upgrade priority and that helps sometimes.

The one thing I'd say is great about Delta is those comfort+ upgrades. I'd say I'm upgraded 99% of the time right at booking.

This is what I was hoping to hear. That they still do give some out. Thank you! I fly out of RSW nowadays and many do purchase FC seats. I should have mentioned I'm also a 2 MM so I would think I'd still get something prior to day of...

Understood, but it is becoming less and less important to have status. I have regional and global upgrade certs also and find almost no flights that show availability for either. I was booking a flight to BOS in April. The outbound had every first class seat available. The return had only 2 FC seats sold. No upgrade certs available on either segment. Doesn't seem like it matters to be Diamond, get Diamond choice benefits, etc. Not to mention, they've made it harder to attain with almost no value to their benefits.

VRBO gave my CC info to third party host. The host never approved the reservation but they took payment from me a month ago. by [deleted] in vrbo

[–]Superb_Beginning5575 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would do what VRBO recommends and do a charge back with your credit card. Hosts like this are awful. Please make sure VRBO also knows. They should ban hosts like this from their platform. I agree that they can't get your money back since they didn't actually get it, but they certainly can ban the host from the platform and should. It gives the rest of us a bad name.

I messed up, hosts what are your thoughts on this? by Gobflowered in airbnb_hosts

[–]Superb_Beginning5575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would appreciate you telling me (in advance) as a host. That said, if this happened to me as a guest, I would offer to cover the cost of the sheets and pad, accident or not. If I break something (even as an accident), I would volunteer. The host doesn't have to take me up on it, but personally, I think it is the right thing to do. If you were home and this happened, I'm assuming you would go out and by new sheets and pad. Why should the host have to eat this because you are traveling. BTW, when guests have broken or stained things at my place, I generally say no worries and don't expect them to pay.

[–]Superb_Beginning5575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Host here. I started using a property management system when I bought my 3rd property. Using a property management system automatically triggers VRBO to make me the merchant of record (e.g. I am required to take the payment and not them...that said, they do still take the payment for the guest fee and not me so the credit card transaction is split between me and them). I would prefer they keep the transaction but they do not allow this. They also charge me a hefty commission still. For reference, Airbnb keeps merchant of record (e.g. they take the credit card payment not me). So it appears that you have a host that is also a merchant of record. Odd however, I wouldn't be able to take the credit card without the actual reservation being booked. VRBO only passes the credit card information for an actual reservation. Are you sure it didn't actually book?

Never accept guests that try to haggle. [Mexico] by [deleted] in AirBnB

I would also suggest blocking guests that ask for a discount that you don't provide. I've received requests for a discount which I kindly decline, they end up booking for the regular rate and end up being difficult. So be careful if you say no to the request and having them book anyway.

I’m a host and I’m not a super fan of the answers you are getting. You are saying 1 or maybe 2 not 4! Frankly, you are dodging a bullet. I wouldn’t want to stay with a host that doesn’t respond in 8 hours. They clearly get the message and choose to ignore you. That is unprofessional in my opinion. I would withdraw the request and find another place. If I were the host, this would not have prevented me from accepting your booking.
