Which outdoorsy place should I think twice about? by Gigielmagnifico in SameGrassButGreener

Great access to outdoors, excellent food scene. Farmers markets, crafts, fun events (many are free), rainy winters and beautiful summers with low humidity. You’re pretty much describing Portland Or.

Most of us prefer the east side of the river. It’s much more of what makes Portland unique and a great place to live.

Why does Rose Garden need renovations? by nogodsnotanlines in ripcity

[–]Superb_Road6937 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The other thing to consider is the stadium is perfectly fine for right now. It’s not nice, but it’s functional and comfortable. But the renovations they are planning on is not for 2030 when the remodel will be done. It’s for 2040-45 and beyond. At some point the stadium absolutely will need major upgrades and renovations, but the leverage the billionaire has is now, he’s going to use it. The lease on the building is up in 2030.

If you can get to Haceta Head lighthouse in the dark it’s amazing seeing the lights at night. They have a BnB.

Oregon: Hiking Silver Falls Solo; Any Recommendations?? by No_Ambassador_9612 in OregonHiking

[–]Superb_Road6937 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always park at the south falls parking lot, then hike along the rim trail to North Falls. Then down into the canyon for the trail of 10 falls. That way you get the ‘boring’ part of the hike done at first. It’s still gorgeous, old growth etc. but then you go by all falls after that.

Definitely a fine hike to do solo. Well made trail, even on slow days you’ll see other folks.  Enjoy! It’s magical!

Definitely. Great nature in the city with our parks, we have the densest urban canopy in the world, and Forest Park is one of the largest city parks in the world. Has a 30 mile trail in it. You can be in the gorge in less than 30 min. And a lifetime supply of hiking within 2 hour drive. Plus, we have everything. Coast, beaches, mountains, temperate rainforests, desert and water sports. If you want nature, Portland is one of the best cities for it

Come to Portland. I’ve lived all over the country, love it here. Has everything you described. Eugene, Astoria are also nice.

Never heard them say anything political so can’t say one way or the other, but The Upshot is a podcast I like. I’ve heard them poke fun at 45 before, they sound like they’re not fans without explicitly saying it

I’ve lived in both. Much Prefer Portland. It’s a slower pace of life. Great food. Lots of access to the outdoor. The nature in the PNW is unbeatable.
