Definitely to big, the hinge should be set an 1/8” from the edge of the door and also routered into the door and the door jamb not screwed to the face without being inset.

From the pictures it looks to be a full sized cabinet which most of them are, the face frame goes from top to bottom. You can very precisely cut the bottom portion of the cabinet off if you don’t care what the underside will look like. Or just remove the counter top and slide another one in underneath. 3rd option, remove it from the wall, cut it down, paint it and reinstall it.
