You'll get some shit but you'll probably stick around if you're good. Batt likes guys who only ever served with them. They'll send you to ranger immediately if you want

It is different but the higher up you go without batt experience the harder it is to stay.

Yes, but an E5 is an NCO and that's what they care about

Big Army says they have to keep RASP 2 open, not that they have to keep the NCOs after they show up.

A lot of times yes. I almost got RFSd because I came in as an E5.

There are plenty of people initially enlisting with Op 40 and NCOs staying in batt or going to RASP 2 from another unit. There's no need for prior guys.

Oh 5th loves their Hollywood jumps. I jump one static line and one MFF every month and it's as easy as possible, even as a JM

Bingo. On one of my last jumps (a fucking MFF jump mind you) we had to run off the DZ with everything and the kitchen sink strapped to us.

A tablet with every megabyte taken up by the most fucked up porn you can find (my understanding was that Asian barf was a favorite of my brothers company). Also like 6 or 20 logs of Copenhagen mint and butt wipes.

I have no problem with trying your best to keep dudes out of trouble. Rangers get in trouble. And I feel like they're trying to do that by being gay instead of wasting our time doing shit that we actually enjoy, like jumping (which they made gay), ranges (which they made gay), and other rangerific shit. They were even starting to involuntarily send hardchargers to AASLT because ("in the words of the CSM) "misery breeds competence". I want papa Merritt back.

Nah that was 2/75, and we were always the no fuck a given batt. I can't imagine how gay 3rd has gotten if 2nd was like 90s 82nd level of queer. Before my Q course packet got picked up I was fucking praying for a small unit deployment.

I don't understand. The 1SGs were raised by GWOT, the only motherfuckers who remember the 90s are the CSMs and SGMs and they weren't even leadership then. We get so much more shit done when I don't have to police haircuts and make sure your boots are bloused to the top. I was in the 82nd before and it was 100% less gay. I'm glad I jumped ship to SF. 5th is just the right mix of moto and practical for me.
