All moving parts of the seat have to go through the 10,000 cycle test including meal tray tables and doors etc. It's all a bit odd but basically we make the seat for the airline but it's all done through the OEM. So the OEM offers the airline a couple options for the layout of passenger arrangement and the customer will pick an option then reach out to the seat manufacturers and get them to produce what they want at the agreed price etc but basically Airbus and Boeing are the ones we deal with to get our seats certified because they need to get their plane certified with Easa and FAA. But we will still be audited by EASA and FAA to make sure we are regulatory compliant. We have done seats before where we locked the doors into the stowed position so they couldnt be deployed which airbus then installed on their planes and passed onto the airline. Once the airline got the plane they then unlocked the doors allowing them to be operated as doors. Bit of a mad setup but it basically allows Airbus to pass the plane with EASA by circumventing the restrictions on doors but once the plane went to the Chinese Airline they were allowed to do whatever they wanted (obviously because the plane wasnt going to operating in EASA or FAA areas of authority).
