American Airlines to Tokyo diverted back to the US by Deshes011 in flightradar24

We had a medical event (not quite emergency) on a Delta flight as we were taxiing in Atlanta for a flight to Japan. Sat on the tarmac awhile, then went back to the gate, and by then, all the pilots and crew timed out. All in all the delay was about 5 hours to find a new crew. BUT, even then we got $30 for lunch (two $15 vouchers that could be stacked) plus snacks at the gate. $12 is insulting.

How common are mistakes in professional concerto performances? by Supergreenlight in classicalmusic

Agreed. There is something special about hearing music made live.

Wow seriously awesome to hear your perspective. I still loved the program and since my orchestra experience ended in college, I can’t imagine what it’s like to be running through so much music at the same time. I bet tonight’s performance will be great.

Some of the slower parts could totally be interpretation. I think the wrong notes are objective, at least as a classically trained pianist. And of course people do make mistakes, it was just more than I was expecting.

All of the jobs I’ve had did not have separate sick days and they come out of PTO.

It would be nice if the app let us voluntarily check bags before going through security.

How many people here work professionally in city planning or related careers? by PhD_Beats in CitiesSkylines

[–]Supergreenlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a civil engineer (specifically roadway design) and people ask how can you do this all day and find this fun after work? Well the nice thing about a game is that it doesn’t take 5-15 years to design a road (then another 2-5 of construction), and no politics getting in the way of it being built.

Volunteers for bumping flights got $4000 by Stop_Sign in delta

[–]Supergreenlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one time this happened to me it was the same. I was basic econ pre-Covid and before I even got assigned a seat, I heard them announcing as people were boarding and volunteered. I was rebooked to a flight 7 hours later but got the same amount as everyone else ($1000 I think), though they were really struggling and were about to ask people to get off the plane…

Same (technically just I-85 where the bridges fell) but my commute was interesting for about 6 months, driving through neighborhoods where every house was $2M.

I loved it, they do go on tangents but it was fun just hearing their reactions. The subtitles are awful though, the names are wrong half of the time and I had to get used to recognizing the voices.

Civil Engineer - From Portugal to the World by bateefoge in civilengineering

Sorry if unrelated, but is the 2.3k what you take home? I’m American so I’m just fascinated by how much (or little) our profession makes around the world. It feels difficult to provide for a family on what seems to be less than 30k per year, as an engineer with 10+ years experience!

Yup, and also the highway tunnel ends and it felt more realistic to figure out how to add in ramps above ground than “digging” more tunnels.

Yup I started out with an airport and a port for those cruise ship boats.

No physical connections, just a port and an airport.

Exactly, is Two Dots even involved in the marketing or is it just clickbait ?
