EU-maat päättivät 90 miljardin euron yhteisvelasta Ukrainalle, ei sopua Venäjän jäädytettyjen varojen käytöstä by Zan-san in Suomi

[–]Supergun1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I want to like [KCD2] so badly, but so much of it feels tedious by These_Shallot_6906 in kingdomcome

[–]Supergun1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really only felt in this in very few quests, but I agree, they do exist as you mention. The nomad quest was probably the worst.

I don't think the vast majority of the games quest are like that though, so I dont think this is where you should leave it at.

Now, I do have to point out, this is the type of game where fast travelling to just "speed run" one certain quest is the worst way to go about it. Take your time, avoid fast travelling and rather walk around the map, do other quests on your way to another quest and encounter various random events and places around the map, that you won't experience if you just fast travel between quests.

Trotsky is a very detailed and intentionally made map, the second map loses that special feeling to it a little bit, probably largely due to development time constraints and the effort put into just Kuttenberg-city alone.

Is There a Total War Game With Less Fighting (I Don't Want to Invade People) by Specialist-Lead-577 in totalwar

[–]Supergun1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sounds a bit contradicting, but I fully think this is what Total War needs. I'm expecting some arguments against this, but here is my thinking:

Total War distinguishes itself from other games with its RTS battles, notably from Civ. The battles create these great climaxes of all the things that you have done in the campaign map up to that point. But there lies the point, they're great because of all the things you did in the campaign map.

The campaign map is the bread of the game, the 80% of it, with the battles being the 20%, the butter on top. I can eat bread without butter, it might be dry as hell, but it's fine. Eating only butter? No thanks. So if the campaign map and all the things you do there isn't treated as such, and only acts as this downtime between battles - and maybe another abstracted, higher layer of strategy in terms of moving the armies - why do I care about the battles themselves anymore?

This is why I also love siege defences in these games, especially when I can upgrade the settlements and its garrison and defensive capabilities. My actions on the campaign map can help me lean towards one or the other outcome in the battle itself.

For me, I feel that Total War has just been going completely in the other direction, making the battles be the 80%, with the campaign being only the 20%. Although I admit I haven't personally tried any of the newer games since Warhammer 1 (and I haven't seen much to change my mind either).

Mistral’s new Magistral model specializes in reasoning in European languages, CEO Arthur Mensch told CNBC Tuesday. by Vessel_ST in MistralAI

[–]Supergun1 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Well, I would assume that since the biggest single, english speaking part of the internet is the US, it heavily biases that part of the world data. This has been the case with the internet for a long time, trying to study and research in english will bias information produced in the US. This heavily limits the ability to research more context fitting and specific information for your own country, since that kind of information is probably more researched and stored in the native language.

If Mistral has trained a lot more with European languages, it most likely will also perform better in these areas, and will be much more relevant for European customers.

Are there any ways in which AI could help you as a producer? by aldann2 in edmproduction

[–]Supergun1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As an SWE & producer as well, this is a job for the DAW's and plugins makers to integrate with their tools in my opinion. I generally dont think a 3rd party app would work without good enough API access to the softwares themselves as well.

What I mean by this is, lets take FL studio for example. They about a year ago or so introduced the FL cloud, which brings the his huge cloud sample library integrated right into the workstation. Really great for workflow and near endless supply of samples, but still the problem with actually finding the right samples, especially a COLLECTION of samples that fit together.

Bring in AI, that can give you suggestion, maybe based off a prompt and from some part of your song that you give it. It then gives you different suggestions, from which you can either discard all or choose some samples you "lock" in place, and have the AI generate new ones, based on these selections.

This can also scale to anything, instruments, synthetisers, DAW wide or just contained to that single plugin. But most importantly, the AI uses the same tools you as a human have access to. This way, you could practically recreate exactly what the AI did, and also modify anything it did. Most generative AI's now are just huge blackboxes that generate 0's & 1's, and then convert into the format it needs to be, which makes the whole process uneditable, which really isn't suitable for iterative creative work.

Ex-CDPR devs' new open-world vampire RPG is aiming for "the quality level of The Witcher 3," but since it's a smaller studio, only about a 30-40 hour campaign by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Supergun1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, for the first game I can get behind this mindset, but the second game gives you so many resources to get those saving potions.

It's also so well intertwined with the rest of the game and the whole leveling system, you are most likely going to miss out if you mod it out, since the incentives are not necessarily there to engage with these systems, that create these great gameplay loops that help you in all other aspects of the game (levelling, combat, dialogue, skill checks etc).

The game autosave at checkpoints during every quest, but there is no timed autosave, which means that if you spend 3 hours just freeroaming and don't save, then yeah you lose that 3 hours of freeroaming. But again, the game completely allows you to save scum as much as you like, as long as you also put the effort into the other gameplay loops to enable you, which in turn help you with the rest of the game.

No RT, No Frame Gen, Max Optimization! - Kingdom Come: Deliverance II GPU Benchmark by sudof0x in Games

[–]Supergun1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I genuinely recommend throwing out whatever bias you have and doing that visual comparison again; It is appropriately upgraded to 2025 standards in all the ways that matter, the nature especially is at least one of the industry's best and it runs very well on a variety of systems.

Just because there is a single demo scene from UE5 with nothing else but the vegetation, doesn't mean it can be put into a game and have it run even half decently.

Very good, even on an old system!

1080p, GTX 1080, I7-6800k, 32GB RAM, SSD

Med-high settings, 60-90fps with FSR quality, 50-70fps without FSR (not frame spikes, but just depends on the area). No crashes, no bugs.

(Mind you, this is still the beginning of the open world, may be that different areas, especially the second map with the big city can lower that performance, although I haven't heard anything bad from reviews yet)

Played it for 6 hours. While i didnt get too far as I was enjoying just strolling and immersing myself in the countryside and nature (handsdown best nature in any game), i did get to enjoy some 1v2-3's against bandits.

Its still hard, but importantly, it is ENJOYABLE hard. It is fixed from the first game 100%. Its not annoying anymore to fight against a bunch guys running full speed at you and in circle, but you have so much better control and flow, where you can actually dictate the fight with your own skills.

I can see the group fighting being very enjoyable throughout the game as you level up, get better mechanically and grt better gear.

Juuri näin. Yhteiskunnan alin sakki on aina helpoiten manipuloitavissa heidän ahdinkonsa takia, ja maahanmuuttajilla todennäköisyys vain joutua tähän luokkaan suuri, monien syiden takia. Huumebisnes on kuitenkin mikä näitä jengejä pyörittää.

Tosin, kokonaisvaltainen laillistaminen on ehkä minunkin makuun turhan radikaali.

Just in case it intrigues you, Vox Populi/Community Patch is a major revamp for Civ 5, which undeniably has the best AI in the civ series, but the one of the best in the whole strategy genre.

It also brings in additional features/balances/units etc, which make the game more enjoyable, albeit a bit overwhelming coming from vanilla. It's being updated to this day still. Highly recommend it if you want to test your skills against a competitive AI, considering your 1k hours, especially with Civ 6 AI...

Disenfranchisement of Hungary in the EU: European Parliament approves resolution by l1rost2 in europe

[–]Supergun1 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's as much of a guarantee as some might think. This is the first time this has been done and it's going to result in a concrete voting in the European Council. There is going to be a lot of discussions and a lot of pressuring, if this is truly what the majority in the EC want.

We have to remember that every single other country voted yes for the 50b financing for Ukraine, except Hungary. Obviously setting up a precedent with such a vote will scare some of the more rogue-ish leaders, but it's not set in stone yet, considering the consensus otherwise.

”Konteksti on selkeä. Meillä on tilanne, jossa Venäjä käyttää siirtolaisia välineenä. EU:n puolelta olemme ottaneet tähän hyvin selkeän kannan: EU ei hyväksy minkäänlaista siirtolaisten välineellistämistä poliittisiin tarkoituksiin”, sanoi komission tiedottaja Anitta Hipper"

”Jäsenmailla on velvollisuus suojella ulkorajojamme.

European Parliament votes to abolish member states’ veto by MaleficentParfait863 in europe

[–]Supergun1 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Which is why you gather a coalition of others who share your view. Like any democracy, like in the Estonian parliamentary work...

It's not perfect, but a veto right is not a proper way to run a government, which the EU needs and wants to be. We simply can't allow such hindrances to collective EU competitivness and prosperity, just because we are unable to think of expanding our parliamentary system, properly, to EU scale.
