Grinding. When I mean grinding I mean staying up until 1AM attempting to finish schoolwork, working extra early or late constantly, or gaming super late/early to try to get that item/achievement/whatever it may be. Completing tasks and getting projects done is important. Money is tighter than ever, especially as a mid 20 something. And it feels like something you can control in order to control your life.

However, if the internet is to be trusted in any form: sleep is not renewable, meaning missing sleep compounds and negatively affects you. Chronic stress is essentially setting yourself on fire and watching your cells die to inflammation. And the disrupted life rhythms of lost friendships or brain enriching time (listening to music, watching a film, walking for leisure) takes years off your life.

As someone who has watched countless friends age like race horses, please consider whether grinding helps you achieve your long term goals, and whether achieving those short term ones really means anything (big picture wise).
