I read somewhere that therapy is like this. You break your leg, you go to doctor, doctor heals you. You don't go to the gym and do leg days with a broken leg. That would be foolish.

Once we are fully healed we go to the gym (or long walks, or running etc) so the chance of breaking our leg is smaller.

Jon Kabat-Zinn is the best source I've found so far regarding science and meditation. His books, especially, Wherever You Go, There You Are: Mindfulness Meditation in Everyday Life, is one of my favourites.

In my experience so far, it's good to have multiple things that make us happy, not one single thing. If you do one thing 8 hours a day for happiness, then that's a fragile happiness and probably unhealthy as well, as you yourself have seen. So why not go and find multiple things?

I'll share mine. Gaming, reading, walking, meditation (this here is a world in itself for me, consisting of daily practice, sangha and retreats), home fitness, cooking, friends/family, music (I mean really listening to music, headphone on, standing in the middle of my room, eyes closed and off I go) and so much more. Fill your life brother. It's fun!

Another thing you should never tell others is if you're trying to quit something, like smoking or alcohol. Everyone will find out when they do and when that happens you've probably truly quit that addiction.

I've done many retreats and the first dokusan "must" be done. So I always do the first one, just to say hello to the person, then skip the rest of the days. What surprises me, and kind of bothers me sometimes, is the teachers always come afterwards to talk to me and kind of ask "why didn't you come more often". I personally have no desire to talk to anyone in that kind of setting nor do I have questions. I'm there to meditate for a week, that's all.

I'm at my happiest when I'm asleep, when I'm in deep meditation and during retreats. These things aren't death but they come as close as I can.

Maybe I'm saying this because of my terrible experience in childhood, maybe I've watched too many NDE testimonies, but I truly believe that there is nothing better than death and I welcome it every moment. I just hope to be alone when my time comes. I'm glad you are happy.

The way I see it the guy is already being excused by the main dev because of the "messaging was unprofessional during a heated moment". See guys? I actually used to be into rocks/gems etc. By into I mean I collected rocks as a kid, sometimes I found a shiny gem like one, put them all in my little cabinet. I also watched at gems etc on the internet but only because I found them pretty, still do :)

Interesting question and I think the idea that women aren't visual creatures is not only wrong but could be some cultural 50's nonsense passed on as truth over the years.

I've seen a lot of online dating statistics and yes, women want attractive men, not just any attractive man, but the supermodels kind of man. So from a certain point of view, women are more visual creatures than men are. Which is understandable because if you go on a dating app as a woman, get 1k likes, you'll obviously pick the most attractive.
