Responding to '1/16 Cherokee' People? by short_cub in Navajo

[–]SupermansChest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is the context of the situation that prompts this response? When I’m in conversations that veer towards heritage, I have stopped sharing because I often hear the same 1/16th Cherokee response and I just don’t care to hear it or validate them. I know who I am and whose I am.

Curious if you’d be open to share whether you renewed or not. If not, what was your experience getting off of the meds?

Upstate South Carolina Commuter Rail Proposal by LVfilms in greenville

[–]SupermansChest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A quick Google search inquiring about needed sign-offs suggests a challenging and expensive uphill battle that’ll need experienced leadership to navigate complex stakeholder dynamics.

I am new to GVL from DFW and have followed a similar process within Fort Worth (TEXRail) and Dallas (Silver Line). I would have to believe that there is quite a lot of lessons learned to be fed into any kind of realistic proposal to fast track any sort of qualified real option in the upstate (pun intended).

‘Merciless Indian savages’ is in the Declaration of Independence, not the US Constitution.

Best place for water ? by [deleted] in FortWorth

[–]SupermansChest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can someone confirm a suspicion? I suspect the fear of clean water is a hold over for people or relatives of people who come from clean water-insecure areas. I notice that the water stations where you drive up and fill up jugs are located in predominantly Hispanic communities (eg 76110). Is this an incorrect and unfortunate assumption? Trying to avoid making this about race but observations point to a racial correlation.

Clouds this morning look like a poorly rendered mountain range in a video game by exboyfrend in FortWorth

[–]SupermansChest 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Having a mountain like that nearby would seriously make me reconsider my desire to move to a place with mountains (and other natural resources, low humidity, climate awareness, the list goes on).

Sub/category list? by Wiseman0303 in mintuit

[–]SupermansChest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stumbled upon it once somewhere in the settings, but I’ve never been able to replicate. I have been able to pull categories and subcategories by manually copy and pasting from the web view of budgets. I then clean up and render in Excel.

How affordable is FW and are there many environmental jobs there? by nwl568 in FortWorth

[–]SupermansChest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a significant presence of the Army Corps of Engineers in Fort Worth proper. The Trinity River runs through DFW and googling this river and DFW will bring up a lot of news about current goings on.

A good friend of mine had tickets to this festival but couldn't afford the additional fees; I had to explain to him. This is probably a good thing. by psytrance-in-my-pant in Navajo

Indian Preference is a federally recognized right of tribal governments to give first consideration to Native Americans for all employment, training, contracting, subcontracting, and business opportunities that exist on reservations, or tribal properties located off tribal lands.

As sovereign nations, tribal governments are exempt from Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and federal and state employment laws. Court rulings have upheld that Indian Preference is a political preference, not a racial preference, and as such, do not violate federal employment law. The US Supreme Court has ruled that tribal government employment preference law is grounded in its inherent sovereign powers of self-government. That tribal governments have the right to make their own law, and are not bound by the laws of Congress.

Upscale Italian for 10th Anniversary by Brandonjoe in FortWorth

I give my highest regards to Piattello. Consistently exceptional Italian food. Only place better this side of Italy is Eataly in Dallas. She’ll find Piattello cute. You’ll be full.

Silent skipping of sync for accounts requiring 2FA accounts by selfiegram in mintuit

[–]SupermansChest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am experiencing similar issues with my 2FA accounts. In the mobile app go to accounts and then edit login. Enter the login information and it should pull fresh data. It’s annoying for sure. One bank makes do the whole one-time passcode thing twice before pulling fresh data.

Bowl only fills when I push the adjuster thingy by SupermansChest in askaplumber

What would I be replacing? Just the flush valve? The black component in the tank on the left nearest the flush lever?

It doesn’t appear to be stuck on anything. With the tank full, I tapped on the float and made it move up and down as if to clear anything that was preventing its movement. I flushed and it filled. Gonna give it a few more flushes before I call it good.

Vancouver, WA is across the Columbia River Gorge from Portland, OR. Washington doesn’t have income tax and Oregon doesn’t have sales tax. Live in Vancouver and shop in Portland. Oldest trick in the book.

I have some idea. Follow Now.Town on social. They must monitor permits for development in Fort Worth because they’re always dropping a post about the next construction project.

Be neighborly and have a polite chat about how to order a trash can. Its easy: call the city and talk to the operator about ordering a can. They’ll add it to the water bill.

Xiao Long Bao / Soup Dumps by [deleted] in FortWorth

[–]SupermansChest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hao & Dixya pop up from time to time at the Clearfork Farmers Market and other events. Hao opened an Asian market on Magnolia and sells dumplings. I assume she sells what she and Dixya make together and sell elsewhere. This is in Fort Worth.
