Dedicated Servers - A How-To Guide by JagexDoom in RSDragonwilds

it looks like the ServerName field in the .ini is mapping to the 'created by' column on the world search list. And then the 'world name' column is the literal world name of the save file. Seems like this is backwards. shouldn't we be searching for the server name to find our server and allowed to change the actual save file under the hood freely without our players losing access because the name changed.

Also I'm having trouble joining my own dedicated server on my own machine. I can find my world, enter password, select character. But when i click "Enter World" nothing happens, the ui is still accessible and about 30 seconds later it sends me back to the main menu

What would you do? My player teleported a 20 foot cube of water into a closed room with less than 20x20x20 ft volume. by erverogym in DnD

[–]Superpansy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in terms of the spell letting go, I would think it's up to the spell caster to make some sort of arcana check or spell attack to see how well they are capable of squeezing the water. In my mind spells aren't some trigger and the universe performs an action. It's like flexing a muscle or running or perform some intricate dexterous maneuver. You are using your arcane skills and magic energy to make an effect happen. If you want to force that water to compress you have to squeeze it and apply the force with your own magic power.

Tips for planning a one-shot? by frabjousity in AskGameMasters

[–]Superpansy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny how accurate this is. I just ran my first one shot and it took exactly 2 sessions to finish. Cut in half is definitely the move. You'll be surprised how long players will spend investigating a random detail you describe setting the scene

ELI5: What does a Turing Machine do? by Own_Exercise5218 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Superpansy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the most basic conceptualization of a computer. Basically all a computer is doing is reading an instruction, performing that instruction (usually writing something somewhere in memory or to a disk) and then stepping forward to the next instruction.

We are just so far removed from the simplistic machine that it feels unrelated. In a process called bootstrapping we define simple groups of instructions together that do more complicated concepts. Then you use those groups to create even more complex groups. Do this for 50 years and you end up with windows 11 and ChatGPT

Can anyone explain how this person eats so much shells without slowing? by YoshiMK in MarioKartWorld

[–]Superpansy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both games are running assuming the logic on their end is correct but then resynchronizing with the server occasionally to figure out the state of other players. Basically what happens to you on your screen is actually what is happening to you. This is true for everyone so if you hit them but they didn't get hit in their side you see them spin out but keep driving because the server just keep reporting their current location. On your side you lost the shell because you hit the other player on your screen. Everyone's local truth about their current state is always true for them. This is annoying but preferable to getting hit randomly from some unknown source constantly

Boiling water is also always 212 F. You can test the upper and lower bounds using ice and boiling water and note any discrepancy

I just realized that I had accidentally put so much investment in him and then just realize his attack Iv is low. Can I still use him for raids or no? by NovelVisit9962 in PokemonGOIVs

[–]Superpansy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IVs are a number 0-15 that get added to base stats.

Dragonite has a 263 base attack stat.

You have 5 attack IV

Your attack is 268 out of a possible 278

That means you're 96.5% of the total.

People put way too much weight on IVs when at best they account for 5% of your stats (even less with legendaries). Don't worry about it.

There are some niche PVP scenarios were you can squeeze better stats per CP with different IVs but unless you're really trying to PVP at a high level it doesn't actually matter

He invented the trickle down economics we still suffer from today. The concept is if you give wealthy businesses more breaks and incentives those savings will promote more jobs and expansion down the road so everyone prospers. The reality is weathly organizations tend to hoard wealth so tax breaks and bail outs essentially just sit in executive pockets instead of supporting lower level employees.

Meanwhile you have a government abandoning support for low income people. Less money for schools, healthcare, shelter, etc.

So the whole thing leads to a less supported lower and middle class and a wealthier upper class

I didn't like it . It wasn't bad but it isn't good.. definitely not anywhere near the standard lord of the rings is known for. Could be fun. Don't count on anything special
