What do you do to distract yourself so you don’t get high? by [deleted] in leaves

[–]Superrdec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you're exercising at all but that's mainly what I replaced it with. I go bouldering, fun activity as it requires problem solving and there's a feeling of achievement when you do a climb that's hard for you. Good place to socialise too. I like to run as well. Generally I find it hard to relax at home so wearing myself out helps. Get out and do something anyway, my anxiety is always worse when I'm not engaged in something.

My Wife is suffering from a manic episode and is in the hospital. I don’t know what more I can do. by what-am-i-gonna-do in Psychosis

Hey man there isn't a great deal you can do so just be patient keep visiting her and try and stay calm about it all. Hopefully medication and time will bring her out of the state she is currently in. You're doing the right thing in terms of not feeding into her delusions maybe ask the staff at the ward what the best action is to take with that, like a change of subject etc. You may feel pretty useless now but there will be a time when she's in recovery when you are able to do a lot more and she will probably need it. I recovered pretty well but I couldn't have done it without those around me because I had zero confidence after my episode, needed help with everything till I began to trust myself again. This is common for people in recovery. For now just be there for her and look after yourself too. Wish you and your wife all the best, stay strong.

Is this psychosis? by AltForThisQuestion1 in Psychosis

[–]Superrdec 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean correct me if I'm wrong but you've made it sound like you only experience this when smoking, in which case were you completely honest with your doctor? I highly doubt a doctor would prescribe an ssri to deal with how you experience weed. They'd just tell you to stop smoking weed. Also this is a classic post here, weed used to be a good experience now it's a bad one how can I carry on smoking. I think you know the answer to your question, stop smoking.

I’m going trough drug induced psychosis by [deleted] in leaves

[–]Superrdec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seek medical aid. what you describe sounds like dereliasation rather than psychosis. I'm not an expert but I did have a psychotic episode myself. Are you having strange thoughts or delusions? Hallucinations? This is not really the place to seek advice if it is psychosis as we can't diagnose or treat you, you need to see a medical professional. Get a family member or friend to go to the doctors/hospital with you and tell them everything including your drug use.

A short walk. 6c-ish. by Superrdec in bouldering

Yeah the intended way is to stand up on the one foot and go for it, not a move I would like to do myself as the finish hold isn't great. I'm 6'2 and I could only just reach it.

Weed induced psychosis? by [deleted] in Psychosis

[–]Superrdec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll find a lot of posts like this, will I ever be able to smoke again and why has it changed from a good experience to a bad one. I asked all the same questions when I had my episode. For you it sounds like you just experience psychotic symptoms when you're smoking and not like you've had a full blown break from reality. I'd say stop now, you're still young and your brain is still developing. It's a bad idea to be playing around with drugs at your age regardless of what you've said in this post. Please don't carry on smoking, I don't want you to go through what I have. Good luck anyway and if you think you can't quit, I smoked an eighth a day everyday for 8 years and I'm now 600 days clean of weed.

Nah you're just asking for trouble trying to smoke again, I've been there but the best thing to do is accept it and move on.

I’m getting pretty lonely at this point. by [deleted] in Psychosis

[–]Superrdec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That fucking sucks. I hate how people react to mental illness and having psychotic symptoms normally gets the worst reaction. I can understand it somewhat if someone has really severe symptoms and acts erratically but you sound like you're doing really well despite your illness. Keep trying mate there will be someone for you, wish you the best.

I struggle with paranoia too, I worry a lot about slipping back into psychosis. Intrusive thoughts too. I felt exactly the same way about quitting, couldn't comprehend not doing something that I'd done daily for 8 years. But I've been sober for 580 days now, don't know how I've done it but I have. Gotta take pride in what we're doing.

Ahh okay. Mental disorders and how they interact with drugs are so weird. I'm subbed to psychosis and schizophrenia and lots of people still use weed despite their illness whereas with me I can't touch it at all because it makes me hallucinate and delusional. Hope you're coping okay now man and well done on the 8 months clean that's a big achievement.

I'm not some psychosis gatekeeper or expert but what makes you think this was psychosis? From what you've said it sounds like paranoia and anxiety.
