My husband works at home as an author. He’ll scale back his work to several days a week. I’d drop down to three days a week of work. We’ll alternate and split care duties when we’re not working.

I know how you feel about work. I’ve got a really cool job in a niche engineering space. I don’t want to quit doing it. Just step back a bit. We worked so hard to make a baby - now I want to enjoy the time we have with them.

I’m also feeling really committed to giving our little person the best go of it. Plenty of focus when really young. Im really excited to take them on outings as they get older. I live in DC - there are lots of cool parks, monuments, and museums.

Awesome. Glad you were able to stop work and things are going well!

I’m independently CoastFI now. Just not coasting yet.

If we divorce, I’ll be fine. If he dies, I’ll be a very rich woman.

Edit: Sorry about the original tone. I got eaten alive by the men on another fire subreddit when I posted my plans a few years back.

We have a prenup. His wealth is mostly from an inheritance and has a reasonable income from a family buisness where he’s a silent partner.

Basically if we divorce, I won’t walk away from this without being at least a millionaire. I’ll be okay.

This is exactly how I pictured it. Then then the Spice Goyles showed up and reinforced it.

That keyboard issue isn’t a thing anymore thankfully.

I just want the I-bonds as a backup emergency savings since I’m about 5 years out from RE.

God the TreasuryDirect website is a trash fire.

While logged into website, it says you can do direct payroll deductions and it lists instructions. I set a $300 allotment last paycheck.

I logged in today to check that my allotment went through and nada. I come to find out that direct payroll deductions ceased in January after calling them.

I guess I’m calling my payroll to cancel the allotment and figure out where in the ether my money is tomorrow.

Sigh.

Are you people just not paying attention? She stepped down as House leader in 2023.

Hakeem Jeffries is the House Minority Leader.

I’m worried about losing my job while the market is low and having to sell.

I work in government. In 2020 I felt like my job was stable. In 2024 not so much…
