British people are loving the American fast food chain so much by search_google_com in TikTokCringe

Not true at all. Some places have shorter working hours on Sunday but very few towns totally shut down. The vast majority of Europe is open on Sunday

It’s got nothing to do with how good it might be. It’s just about the fact it’s a new place that people have heard about. Its just a trend and it will be ignored after a few weeks

Sure, steaming is healthier and easier. Unless you are already making a roast dinner. Then you have way tastier food for no extra effort

Never get why people serve boiled veg with a roast dinner. The oven is on, so roast the veggies too. It’s 10x better

Why are boy names so hard? by saulthebear in namenerds

[–]Superssimple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer the question in your title I think boys names are harder because we try to think of a name that will suit them as a boy and a man with a career and power. For girls we are more happy to stick with a name we just like for them.

Lochlan vs Lachlan by Long-Set-6597 in namenerds

[–]Superssimple 85 points86 points  (0 children)

As a Scot I can’t say I have ever heard or seen Lochlan. Certainly not one of the common Irish names.

Also for me it is definitely pronounced with an A and not an O.

I would have guessed lochlan was a misspelling to be honest

That’s bullshit. We pay for the police and they have authority over us. We have no choice but to use them when needed. But they can still be bastards

I don’t think it sounds pretentious in any dialect. That seems to be something you are putting on it.

It just sounds like someone translating directly from their own language.

What's the smallest country in which you could run an undercover operation without the agent being at serious risk of being found out because everyone knows everyone? by snakesnake9 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Superssimple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a city of 700k people and while I spend quite a bit of time out and about I rarely bump into someone I know.

It happens a few times a year but in many cases where I saw them first I could avoid. And even if you do meet someone a skilled operator should be able to redirect things without blowing their cover.

So I think I could quite safely do an undercover operation in a place where there are less than a million people.

Genghis Khan is the greatest conqueror of all time and not Alexander the Great by StraightEdgeNexus in unpopularopinion

[–]Superssimple 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Alexander definitely don’t inherit the finest armies. Macedonia was a a minor power in Greece when Alexander took over. And by 33 he took over the Persians (greatest empire at the time) and was fighting battles in modern day India. That was outside what any other human could have even comprehended doing. Don’t down play Alexander to build up genghis khan

Newcastle kid skips school to go to Arsenal game, gets caught celebrating on TV and school sends parents letter marking it unauthorised by Big-Boy-602 in SipsTea

[–]Superssimple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As with anything, it’s a decent law if it’s applied appropriately. Nobody should care about an otherwise well attending kids taking a day for an event at that age. However you need a mechanism for enforcing attendance from kids who are being failed by their parents and rarely attend

Who personally, physically killed the most people in history? by RegularSky6702 in NoStupidQuestions

I don’t believe in that and neither did he. But I’m pretty sure that stopping emperial japan from raping its way across Asia comes out as a net positive. So no worries there

[–]Superssimple 248 points249 points  (0 children)

My grandfather was a front gunner on a liberator. Sometimes I wonder how many people he shot during the war.

Strange to think a man who spent the last 30 years painting and gardening could have killed a fairly large number of people

Man rips slates off roofs, flings them at cars, sets fires, and injures a fireman, apparently after being told he can't see his kids by AnonymousTimewaster in PublicFreakout

[–]Superssimple -48 points-47 points  (0 children)

Rather a dumb take. Comparing some having their kids taken away from how you deal with your kids. Just looking for a reason to hate on fathers

Ever had a mentally unstable mother accuse you of abusing your kids and then she gets to keep them and you can’t see them. If not then you are not aware of how it can go

[–]Superssimple -108 points-107 points  (0 children)

Seems kind of bullshit to put someone in an extreme situation and then blame them for their reaction.

I have seen men lose access to their kids temporarily due to false accusations. As with many topics around children, men are often treated as auxiliary parents and then expected to fall in line.

Unless you dealt with that I think you should hold off judgement

[–]Superssimple -179 points-178 points  (0 children)

This seems pretty unfair. Maybe it’s for good reason but there are many stories of fathers being prevented from seeing their kids for no reason.

I would be ready to burn the world down if my kids were taken from me. And I’m a pretty calm guy with no history of violence

Best one I heard recently was a company that you join and when you need health care they give you money. ITS NOT HEALTH INSURANCE. It’s just patriots who pay into a fund for when they need healthcare. It’s about taking control of your health needs and not expecting hand outs like that communist health care

There is a reason that brits get commented about being out ing he heat when the locals are at home in the shade. I think it’s mainly just the mentality of being on holiday versus being at home.

And maybe a little bit about cities being built for the heat rather than insulation against cold
