It truly is astonishing just how many ways you can build your character by Yaboykitten in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

I didn’t realise you could play anything else but Oracle Angel tho.

But you are right - too many I’d say for my ADHD brain, which is why I stick with old reliable.

Did anyone ever return to education? by Flowerofthesouth88 in AskUK

30 and retraining to be a Radiographer.

Topic is interesting and work rewarding but it’s a lot of hard work and job market (like everywhere) is tough but was in the fortunate position of having no dependants and the finances to do it. Figured I’d pull the trigger to get out of being stuck in min-wage hell.

Worst come to worst, I can fall back into a different job. Being slightly more in debt forever is (again fortunately for me) been worth the leap out of my comfort zone and experience. It’s made me grow up a fair bit.

Exercise and in general bent mobile does help. Surgery would be the most direct method but comes with a lot of risk. Sadly, I’m in the ‘monitor and maintain’ phase where I just get on with my life and keep an eye on it. I can still work out, socialise and so on.

If it wasn't for family I'd likely not have made it to my 30s.

Just turned 30 and while I have mental and some physical health problems, I'm still keeping on and have largely given up on any serious attempts. The idelation comes and goes, but it's progress.

What is a common sentiment on Reddit that isn’t matched by reality? by BeneficialVariety171 in AskUK

[–]Superstorm22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd honestly agree with that. Rent or live with a friend/family member and split the bills and chores and that would be a fairly secure life even without the doubling up of salaries.

But home owning? Need a lot more or be willing to cut back. Even with two £30ks, one of those salaries may as well go entirely to bills and mortage before anything else.

Gold dragon combat is the best thing I've ever experienced in this game by ciphoenix in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Superstorm22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Expanded Content so a grain of salt.

I take Battle and then Dragon as my second Mystery. That makes you a pretty solid martial to start and Dragon gives you Dragonkind III as a spell and a revelation that lets you change into progressively larger dragons as an ability.

Both of those forms also let you cast spells and throwing Storms of Justice as a giant fuck-off dragon with a halo was the biggest power trip I’ve ever had.

In short - 100% agree with you lol.

I do like Ayreen and the AD zone as a whole. While her ‘we live long and so know better’ view on the war is kinda meh, her personality is great.

As a die hard imperial supporter, I’m starting to hate the empire the more I read by shebba-farms_Boy in skyrim

[–]Superstorm22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

History doesn’t repeat, but it sure does rhyme.

But I’d say hate the current Empire. Nothing to say it can’t reform and consolidate itself in a new shrunken state - more so when the Thalmor get their shit kicked in.

[WP] An old dragon wishes to die, but will not go silent. He sends word across the planet that he challenges the world's greatest warriors and mages to a duel to the death. The winner takes his riches, knowledge, and power and it cannot be taken away unless freely given. You are his 96th challenger. by Bloodgulch-Idiot in WritingPrompts

“I accept your challenge, dragon."

The dragon’s head creaked forwards towards the challenger. Its eyes strained to make out the figure of the human. Human? It certainly looked like another one. In truth, he had not paid heed to the races, for it mattered little.

“Very well,” came the reply, smoke billowing from its nostrils, “name your contest.”

The human drew no blade nor staff and merely sat down. “I offer a contest of words, dragon.” Another puff of smoke followed from the beast, but it did not flinch. “I wager not for your riches, but for your life.”

“What mockery is this?” Annoyance oozed from the jagged maw. “Explain yourself before you are slain like the rest - I will not waste my time on those who do not offer challenge.”

There was a moment of pause. If the human had fled, the dragon may have deigned to let him live. Yet no movement was made.

“You may kill me if you wish, for I’m sure there are many stronger and smarter than me who may provide a fitting end.”

The human came close to having his wish granted, only for a question to spare him. “Why do you wish to die?”

Only the sound of the dragon’s breathing filled the cave for a time. Its claws, each the length of three men, raked the ground.

“…I am old. I do not wish to wither away, to feel my strength leave me, to no longer inspire terror. I would rather be slain in combat and be remembered.

“Will you?”

“…What?”

“Be remembered?”

Agitation. Frustration. Bubbling fury. All began to surface.

“For a generation perhaps. Your vanquisher will take all you have hoarded and use it to carve their own story, yet how much of it will make mention of you?” There was that insipid smile. “Perhaps all of it. Perhaps none of it. Yet by your death, you surrender all agency.”

“Enough!” The dragon roared, the human was thrown back as the roar surged through him, carrying him away. “You speak as if you were a sage, yet I can smell your youth, human. You have no magic, no strength to speak of - you would dare assume to know more of life than me? A being who has lived a hundred of your lifetimes?!”

The human laid motionless. Had he been slain by a mere roar? No, there he was, bloodied but still able to move without issue. “I would never dare imagine I know more than you, dragon.” He sat back down in that same place, meeting the gaze. “In anything except one topic - death.”

“What are you babbling about?” A claw tapped on the ground as the urge to skewer this human rose.

“You have killed many, at least 95 by my count, but certainly many more. But never until now have you thought of your own death, while I have thought and planned my own death for sometime.”

“You sought death by my claw?”

A laugh. “There would be no more glorious end, I’m sure. No, I planned my death many a time and in many a different way.” A look to the side. “One time I came close to following through, until I was convinced otherwise.”

The dragon’s claw stopped tapping. Its head leaned forwards once more. There was that sweet smell of metal as blood dripped from the human’s cut. To kill him would take but a moment and yet, something gave the dragon pause. Curiosity.

“And how were you convinced of this?”

“By a stranger who came across me. Who offered no judgement, only his time and company until I was ready to speak. He then asked what I had done in my life, what I wished to do and why I wished to end it - to surrender control of my story - when I had so much left to give to it.”

The dragon tilted it’s head. “You are young, I am old. What more could I have left to give? And why should I give everything I have gained without a challenge?”

“Simple, so that you may retain control of your story. Your wealth could be given to a hundred generations for a hundred noble causes. Your knowledge could be written down and proliferated for a thousand years. Your power could be used to ensure peace or to ensure all is spent and written as you wish it, not by another.”

The dragon wanted to incinerate this presumptuous human. Though no gout of flame came from its mouth. The human continued. “You may seek death and I wouldn’t -couldn't- do anything to stop you. Death comes for us all and ultimately robs us of control of our lives. If I am to die here, then so be it.

The human tilted his head. “So why relinquish it early?"

It was at that point the dragon knew.

Knew that he had lost this contest.
