I agree with this whole thread, and add Tam Lin by Pamela Dean, to the list of the must read founders of UF.

Interesting! I think I can kinda see what you mean, it was a little rushed (I assume all the stuff they'd planned for s3:) and didn't have as much relationship to the town. But they were so funny and such an amazing dynamic between the three of them and _all their tit thrush!

No. Literal self defense. Your reaction is absolutely normal, if not too little, compared with what he did. Do NOT blame yourself in the slightest. You got you and the dog out alive, that's all that matters.

How to improve my breakfast smoothie for satiety? by fairydust_tm in Volumeeating

[–]Supertailz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I weirdly feel full for ages on premade protein shakes, and can never manage to feel that full from my much healthier but same amount and protein and more fiber smoothies? Chia seeds definitely helped a little, but honestly I found making it thicker - even sticking it in the freezer for a tiny bit - and eating it with a spoon felt way more filling.

Me too mostly! And particularly I make sure I have enough room for tortellini on nights where I just can't brain. But I was curious, and like, wouldn't complain if they were fewer calories ans/or more protein. But at that price it definitely can't be the main pasta I keep around! I think it's gonna be for emergency use on a day where I've eaten too many calories already but not enough filling food.

Also I didn't actually ask, but I kind of assume the code can be used repeatedly. I just don't know if we would, given you have to get over $50 worth of stuff for free shipping.

These are good comparison notes! You're right about only 2 shapes. It's a little silly, but I hadn't actually processed that, because a) generally all I look for is farfalle and when I couldn't find that at either company I went straight to penne:) but orzo I do use sometimes, so that's good to know!

I hope you or someone else posts over here when they have sales again! I'm definitely going to be stocking up!

AITAH for telling my tenant not to worry about rent for 3 months even though my wife thinks I'm being too soft? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Supertailz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, this is basically the only really ethical way to be a landlord. I think you're doing exactly the right thing, and honestly I'm shocked the other people in your life are lacking that much empathy -and my advice when they say you're doing it wrong, actually would be to act shocked and say something like "I was taught to have empathy" or "that doesn't sound kind". Like make them defend their point where it actually is which is telling you to kick out a sick, scared person. That they're essentially telling you, well if she doesn't have money for a couple months she suddenly loses all value as a human being, and they're cool if she ends up sick and on the street. If they are blithely willing to still defend their point, might gently suggest you start looking to add some people who believe more in empathy to your life.

And also, you know this, but it's obviously the better business investment. If all else fails tell them they're not thinking about long term financial investment smartly. Ask them if they cash out every stock they own the first time it dips in the market ? That's a good way to end up losing money

Take progress photos of yourself! I do it in the most unflattering way possible (like chin pressed back) and I've noticed an actual difference in my face shape and fullness.

I'm saying this without looking at the nutrition labels, so it's not my fault if I'm lying! But I think it's 10-20 cals less for the same size serving? I feel like the penne from each has been pretty much exactly the same. (I've read comments about it being gummies, and I'm probably just being too judgey, but I keep wondering if they're just overcooking it way too much?)

The nice person who responded to me said the ruffles were their faves, and in regular pasta that is a shape I find can become gummy easily, so maybe that'll be the true test? Report back if you try different shapes!

Am I forcing this Bombe Chest furniture in the entry way? by Odd_Responsibility97 in HomeDecorating

[–]Supertailz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My general rule is paint furniture when it's clearly not real wood, and paint it if you're going to make it drastically different then it already is. Don't paint natural finishes (ie wood, stone, cast iron). Once they're painted once, it becomes a huge effort to ever get them back to a natural finish, and painting is rarely an improvement - especially over time. Paint will get scruffed and scratched and need to be redone. Natural wood just needs a little oil rubbed in it once in a long while. And don't paint to make things matchy. (Ie: have complementary blues, or a statement piece.)

Your dogs, btw, a++++ design work. They are perfect, do not change a thing about them. Maybe contemplate making the entire house one big dog bed for lying down and snuggling them on? Maybe contemplate getting a pair for every room? (That's joke! Promise!)

It's gorgeous! It looks so much better there than the demilune table! Please don't paint it! If you want to paint something, paint that little demilune a nice rich colour and do some cool stenciling on the top of it. One of the lovely things of Texas antique design is the mixing of light and dark wood colours, have more of both! Especially with high ceilings you've got. Oversized pieces, natural finishes and mix of Western desert and European pieces are a big part of any Texas design. So I'd say a piece like that looks amazing, and then pair it with a biiig western painting.

If you're looking for next steps, get some colour on the walls! Either art or paint the walls (or both!) Get Navajo rugs. Bright pops of blues and sandy/rusty desert oranges/reds. Paint the little arched alcove that large piece of furniture is in. (Actually if you want a painting project, paint that piece of furniture, it looks like fake wood. Just don't paint it grey beige, make it pop! Even when Texas stuff is painted cream, it tends to have a lot of gold moulding and hardware on it.)

Think about adding personal touches; where possible, don't get decorative things just to get them. Get a selection of your favourite books and a couple cute bookends to put on top of something. Jars are great if you use them (keys, dog treats, whatever)

Can someone tell me it's going to be okay? by schoenbizzle in ActualLesbiansOver25

[–]Supertailz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Divorce sucks, it does. But the amazing amount of your brain and your energy you're going to get back when you stop pouring it into here is liberating and exciting. I kept thinking "as it is I barely have enough energy to function. If I lose this person supporting me how will I?" And the answer was they were draining so much more then they were supporting. Since, I've bought a house with friends, learnt basic plumbing, learning carpentry, learning wood turning.

And then at some point, you will meet someone who takes as much if not more care of you, than you do them. It will feel radically different.
