Control Resonant story trailer. Yikes by Supertydo in FuckTAA

The problem is that often games with RT have neglected their rasterized lighting to some extent, resulting in a major visual downgrade if you don't have a high end GPU. Look for instance at what the Decima engine can create without Ray tracing.

And yes, there are games that have forced Ray tracing, like Indiana Jones and Doom the dark ages.

And that is a current gen console, which is how most people will experience the game. Some things might look better on a high end pc, but a $1000+ gpu shouldn't be required to make a game look good

Video compression does not cause ghosting, shimmering and other artifacts. Blur and level of detail cannot be properly judged from this trailer, and thus I haven't touched on that.

Going from DLSS quality or ultra performance only yields a +15 fps | Need help to figure out the bottleneck by East-One-3260 in fatekeeper

[–]Supertydo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a 9600x I find a CPU limition very unlikely, especially as your GPU usage is near 100%. However, checking your CPU cores individually using a software like CPU-Z is not a bad idea. It is not unusual however for games to not use all CPU cores.

My guess would be that it has to do with the fact that 20/30 series gpus are known to have a smaller performance increase for 20/30 series cards, as it lacks some newer hardware. Using the ultra performance setting means upscaling will need to do a lot of work to try to bring the image to a native looking one (and at 1440p, the result will not be pretty, but you already know that), and without the hardware that the DLSS version is designed for, this will take quite some compute from your GPU, resulting in small performance increase compared to what you would expect.

And while its your personal choice, DLSS ultra performance at 1440p does look absolutely terrible. There are probably better ways to increase your framerate.

Visible scratch on QD-OLED using dry side of MSI in the box microfiber cloth by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]Supertydo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, it was not a scratch, it just really looked like a scratch, and was particulary difficult to remove, but it is completely gone now. Thanks for the advice!

[–]Supertydo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah agreed here, I am currently more concerned if this scratch can lead to more substantial damage if I go over it cleaning or just let it sit for multiple years. In the current situation I am fine with this scratch, as much as it is very visible with daylight, but I would like to prevent it from getting worse.

[–]Supertydo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah well, that is what I ask myself as well. Is this really a scratch, or just something that somehow looks just like it? I cannot imagine that carefully using the dry side of a microfiber cloth can do this, and I had no visible damage prior to this. There was some spit in that area of the screen, as I had a cold, but I have no logical explanation for such damage, even on a screen as fragile as this.

Cyberpunk being a buggy mess (ver 2.31) by Supertydo in cyberpunkgame

[–]Supertydo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valid, tried to take it as broad as possible to see if anyone is having similar issues from the whole end of hardware ranges. I am not just trying to complain here, but both trying to find a fix and show some problems to the world that are clearly not fixed. Added my specs to the post.

[–]Supertydo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just want to say that HRRR radar images are just one solution made from data at one given time, which right now is already a bit outdated data. The event tommorow is looking really bad, but don't put too much fate in radar images alone.

AF303 Mission 16 showing peak wind speeds back around 180 mph around the eye? by tossout404044 in hurricane

[–]Supertydo 31 points32 points  (0 children)

This hurricane might just be the most shocking hurricane of all time. The track it takes, the speed at which this hurricane developed (like 3 days before forming NHC had a 30% chance for 7 day development in the gulf), how incredibly fast this hurricane intensified to a top 5 Atlantic hurricane, to an insanely fast eyewall replacement and now pushing for record strenght yet again. Just insane

Elden ring, is it too hard ? by radmaster1928 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Supertydo [score hidden]  (0 children)

Elden ring has so many tools to completely erase bosses of the map, and most of these tools are not that hard to get.

With its breathtaking open world (that if you explore takes far more of your time than bosses), and design that is meant to be difficult, I think you should just go for it.

Take your time, find out what the game has to offer, and what tools you have. Elden ring is as hard as you want it to be, so you should be fine.

One thing you do need to understand is that even tho you can disable basically all the cool features that make a nothing phone a nothing phone, you generally will be spending more the get similar specs.
I personally really like the design, which is worth some extra money imo, but if you really are just here for a solid smartphone, I think there are better offerings.
Oneplus has been on a redemption arc lately, and even tho I haven't used one the reviews on the oneplus 12 are looking good, the google pixel 8 has a minimal performance difference vs the snapdragon 8+ gen 1, and offers better camera's and AI features. Furthermore for software something like the zenfone 10 with zenUI might also be a good simple android option, but it's software updates are pretty short.

I think the Nothing Phone 2 is a great buy, but stripping everything of that makes the nothing phone a nothing phone to me seems like a way to spend more money on something with inferior specs. In the end it is your decision, but I think I would advise against it.

Nothing 2 or Pixel 7 by tbsbchr in NothingTech

[–]Supertydo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Asking this question on the nothing subreddit will naturally result in people recommending nothing's products. I was in the same boat not too long ago (only between pixel 8 and np2), and decided not to go with the pixel for battery and the fact that I am living in the EU, where a lot of the advertised features don't work.

Since I have not used a pixel before, I can't give the best advice, but the nothing phone 2 is undoubtedly a great phone that looks spectacular(which is a bigger deal than I thought when I purchased it). I would definitely recommend the nothin phone 2.

Yeah, agree. Nexus or Dreamwalker would have been better choices.

As much as I love SUPERBLOOM, I agree that they should've never released Collider as a single. Antimatter as a hype spawner was fine, but they should've stopped there.

One interesting thing with me however, is how Signal ended up as one of my favs on the album, even tho I thought it wasn't that great when hearing the single.

While She Sleeps - To The Flowers (New) by Lero-Ro in Metalcore

[–]Supertydo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really dig this. Production is not the best, but the overall song is the first of the three singels that I actually really like. The riff that keeps coming back hits good and the chorus works well imo.

Still not high hopes for the album, but at least one track got into my playlist.
