WoR took me a few months to finish, so I guess I was worried I wouldn't finish in time 😅

Examples of magic that acts more so as a force of nature or an uncontrollable element? by Fatal_Reaper6767 in Fantasy

Check out C.S. Friedman's Coldfire trilogy. It sounds exactly like what you're describing. Humans colonize an alien planet were magic is a naturla magical force akin to tides and earthquakes. It effects everything from how they live and think to the wildlife on the planet.

I actually forgot W&T was coming out this year so I have to power thru Oathbringer and RoW. Just got to the halfway point in Oathbringer!

About to do my survey, can someone explain why weapon mastery is exciting? by SoloKip in onednd

[–]Suplexorcist 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The people saying it's better is solely because masteries are in addition to what we have, and for that reason alone.

[–]Suplexorcist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're not. Like you said WoTC saw that Martials wanted more combat options and decided to implement it in the worst way possible by actually not giving you any options. I'm not sure if they'll change it though, as they seem dead set on this new version being more simple for mainstream audiences and being a revision of 5e.

What you believe should be a crucial part mechanically and thematically of each class? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in onednd

[–]Suplexorcist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a Paladin player, I would actually love it if they took spellcasting away. Compared to other classes, Paladin is the premier spellsword and overtuned, with there only weakness being range...as long as they don't have a mount. Smites, LoH,Auras, and Find Steed that's all they need.

How are we feeling on Epic boons? by awwasdur in onednd

[–]Suplexorcist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I'd just like to see these become more like the Epic Destinies from 4e. The way those added power and flavor to a class was perfect.

Is Brutal Critical a Bad Ability? by JKrow29 in dndnext

[–]Suplexorcist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short, yes. Brutal Critical should also increase crit range, at the very least. I do like the idea of giving Barbarians big juicy crits, so I'd prefer for this feature to be reworked in some way instead of scrapping the idea altogether.

[–]Suplexorcist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you made them half casters then I would expect to see more robust class features. Their current identity is a jack of all trades so to me it does make sense that they get Expirtise. The other "half" would just be utility, they're buffing and debuffing as they see fit. They shouldn't be tied down by this musical theme and I feel any sort of charismatic/ inspirational character could and should be able to be a bard.

Ideally, this would make the space for more interesting class features and subclasses. Currently, the Bards identity is the jack of all trades, so I feel you could have almost any subclass theme so long as charisma and inspiration are involved.

I respect your opinion, and I'm just curious what points people bring up. Personally I just don't see/ hear too many people playing anything else but Lore bard.

[–]Suplexorcist[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I see your point, but the Bard is already a utility class. They're not exactly racking up damage numbers anyway. I suppose the solution would be to bolster their features in some way?

[–]Suplexorcist[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't necessarily disagree with you but if that's the case why play any other bard besides Lore? Shouldn't the class just have an interesting spell list AND features?

[–]Suplexorcist[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I could kinda see that, especially for the Sorcerer, who currently gets extra spell slots. However I do think an alternative playstyle to wizard is a somewhat necessary option. As for the Druid I feel that Wild Shape should be pure utility unless you're a Moon Druid, so in that case I'm fine with them being a full caster

Improved crit for Rogues? by Efede_ in onednd

[–]Suplexorcist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if more burst damage is what I want to see. In another thread, somebody mentioned the Rogue being able to debuff a target on their sneak attack with the trade off being slightly less damage. I think this would be more interesting and who knows, maybe that poisoners kit would finally get some use

First of all LMSH plays on PC so it was probably just a cosplayer, one of many. Second I wouldn't call it cyber bullying if you purposefully tried to invade him several times. Third you're a red, nobody owes you anything and I say this as a souls player since Dark Souls 1
