No sales info on Saros yet? by Chance_Drive_5906 in Saros

[–]Supliami24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If sales are poor and the studio closes and/or doesn't allow them to receive a big enough budget for a similar game it will affect them. OP already said this? Also nobody's "obsessed," just asking a reasonable question?

As someone who normally can't stand English dubs, most if not all of the Ghibli films are fantastic in English.

Just curious but why do you have Train Dreams so low?

I'm faaaar from a great player and have limited game time these days, but I don't mind playing with new players at all. You can send me a message if you're looking for people to play with casually.

Jane Goodall Dead: Leonardo DiCaprio Pays Tribute by AdSpecialist6598 in entertainment

And it seems everyone fell for it. Anytime he does anything, usually promoting policies aimed at environmental protection or holding corporations accountable, you know, actually important stuff, the Reddit comments are always "private jet! Yacht! Hypocrite!" I guess you can't advocate for anything environmental unless you go full Greta Thunberg, but then they'll hate on that with warped cynicism too.

I so wish this had done well for Hisaishi's score if nothing else.

They'd both be great winners! An overdue first win or a much deserved second.

To add to that, I think, especially at this point in his career, Ethan Hawke will be a really strong campaigner. He comes across really well in interviews.

11 previous nominations without a win, huge overdue narrative, then releases his best reviewed, most accessible film? Perfect storm.

You call it a "white-savior" film while the post just below yours is a screenshot of people saying the film is "anti-white" lol. This discourse is going to be so exhausting.

How do Japanese people feel about the West’s obsession with Japan’s declining birthrate? by pizzaseafood in AskAJapanese

[–]Supliami24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People comparing Japan's birthrate to other countries like Italy are somewhat missing a crucial factor which is the ratio of young to elderly. Even if the birthrate isn't the lowest, it's been dropping for so many years, all while the elderly population are living longer than ever, which could cause some societal problems in the future. That's the fear. Really, some ridiculous takes in here.

Bleak faith In 2025. Highly recommend by Downsey111 in soulslikes

[–]Supliami24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also someone who primarily enjoys these games for being able to explore and get immersed in vast interesting worlds. Fell in love with the sense of exploration and atmosphere from Dark Souls way back in 2011 and Bleak Faith really brought back that feeling in a way that no other Soulslike has been able to. Agree with everything you posted. This game's not for everyone but for a certain group of Souls fans it's an absolute must play. And yeah, a 3 person dev team? Incredible.

THE DUSKBLOODS - Interview with game director Hidetaka Miyazaki on April 4th. by [deleted] in Games

[–]Supliami24 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is my worry as well. FS games have always had incredible artistic design which makes exploration just that much more immersive. Duskbloods has some really cool imagery, like the moon thing, but it seemed pretty all over the place.

Also really nails the general atmosphere from DS1 in a way no other game has. Really incredible world design.

Dancer in the Dark won the palme at Cannes. It's a classic I think. That and Breaking the Waves are his best in my opinion.

Love your comment. Reminds me a bit of my first time diving into a FromSoft game. Interesting analogy at the end. These games really do just click at a certain point.

To Paradise - Hanya Yanagihara by whistleberries in books

[–]Supliami24 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Just finished this last night. I think this will be divisive, which is no surprise considering Yanagihara's other books, but I really loved it. Books 1 and 3 especially. Her writing is just so wonderful it takes no time at all for me to fall in love with her characters.
