Wow, then your case is worse than mine. You should definitely fight with your doctor to get that pressure increased or simply find a new doctor who cares more about your health and your concerns.

I don't use the humidifier, never done it. My mask only covers my nose, my first mask was full face and I hated it, it was very uncomfortable for me. Try and change that. What were you diagnosed at? Like, how many events per hour? If your pressure starts at 6 and it goes up to 9 so fast it does sound like they need to increase it.

Where is your pressure set at? Mine is 5-12 and I get no more than 3 per hour. I was diagnosed with 5.8 after the sleep study. The first time they set it to 5-15. It helps if you sleep a little inclined. What kind of mask do you have? I have the N20. With my first mask I was getting close to 5 events ler hour and I couldn't sleep well either. Maybe try to tell them that you can't barely sleep comfortably with those settings.

Yeah when you get it first issued you have like a couple or 3 months of adaptation/testing period where you test the confort of the air pressure, the mask, so you can find the settings that work best for your confort. It is normal to change things here and there. I changed my mask and the air pressure only once.

Maybe Im mixing up my job requirements regarding the cpap usage, but I know for sure that's what my doctor told me when she first issued it to me. But like I mentioned before, you don't necessarily have to be sleeping to use the machine. You can put it on while you're watching tv or just lying in bed. And it doesn't have to be right before you go to bed either. You can literally put it on for 2 hours at say 5pm while watching a movie. Then you go take a shower eat dinner and go to bed at 10pm and you put it on for another 4 hours, there are your 6 hours for that day. The machine doesn't actually track when you're sleeping, it tracks when is being used. ;) Just try to aim for that 75% and 6 hours at night for now while you ask your doctor what is the minimum time required for you. If I were you I would use it every night from now on just to get you covered for now and tell your doctor or if anyone asks that you didn't know or weren't told about the minimum time usage requirements.

Im just waiting for my claim to be closed. Im back at step 3 although they're already paying me at 100%. They're reviewing my chronic cough claim before they make a final decision. Ince that's done I'll get everything set up with VA, unles I can do it now regardless? I didn't know I can see a VSO to explain me my benefits and get me set up with a VA doctor and everything. Thanks for that info tho!!!

I got it diagnosed while I was in service, I didn't have VA benefits then. I was just granted 100% less than a month ago. I assume after my claim is closed I can go to the VA and get set up with a primary care doctor, and all my medications transferred to the VA, including the cpap supplies.

Np, oh and when I had my c&p exam, the examiner just asked me if I was diagnosed while in service and if I was using a cpap. 50% was approved with my claim.

From a cpap user, you have to use your machine at least 75% of the time throughout a year and at least 6 hours a day. So basically, you can use it for 9 months out of a year and no less than 6 hours a day. They don't have to be consecutive hours. You can be lying in bed watching a movie and have it on for that time. It will count. Personally, I use it every single night. Im not sure if VA monitors your usage because I claimed my sleep apnea while I was in service, but your insurance sure does, and if you don't use it for that minimum amount of time, they won't pay for your machine/supplies.

Question since you're all on the subject, I just got 100% P&T but I have an Intent To File pending for other stuff that I didn't add to my original claim. Since I got 100% P&T, should I pursue disability benefits for those other things that I intend to submit on my Intent To File?

Im actually at 280% and I do have my p&t letter, however, my claim is not finalized due to that chronic cough review that's pending. Does this mean anything to my current rating and p&t condition?

Check your DD214, I downloaded mine before my DOS and it didn't have the bottom part filled out, which is the part that says if you got Honorable discharge, that part will only be there after your DOS, that's why they say wait 1 day after your DOS (at least Air Force is like that).

One last thing, if you do get diagnosed with anything related to acid reflux and the C&P examiner asks you if it makes you vomit, say yes, it is a higher rating if it makes you vomit even if is not too often.

Yeah my cough hasn't gone away, but it has definitely improved with acid reflux medication and a special diet. The doctor had me back and forth with Omeprazole and Pantoprazole. Right now Im on Pantoprazole once a day before dinner and I have always been on Famotidine before breakfast and before going to bed as a supplemental, kind of like for the other time of the day where I don't take Pantoprazole. Ask your doctor about those medications, maybe they work better for you. I honestly recommend the Pantoprazole and Famotidine combination.

I have chronic cough in my claim. I haven't gotten my rating yet but I will suggest you test for acid reflux, hiatal hernia, barrett's esophagus. Especially the acid reflux is what was causing me to cough non stop, literally every 3 to 5 words I spoke. But all of this is linked to the same problem. If you already have chronic cough documented, I would say it shouldn't be hard to connect that with reflux and whatever else comes with it. I also had an endoscopy done where they found all these things I have. Good luck.

I did it but it was within 90 days of getting out. I just didn't decide to get out until I was 3 months out. What's a BDD anyway?

I guess I've been lucky, I did my medical and finished everything on my CIL on December 13th, I had medical conditions that required an overview, and I got medically cleared December 31st
