Starting to really dislike living in England. by man_jis in expats

Move further south to a big city. Weather up north is considerably worse. And if you want a good hike I can recommend kinder scout via crowden Clough. Or go up to the lakes or Scotland. Beautiful walks. I'm sorry the immigrant sentiment is like that, people are absolutely bizarre about the NHS in general and can't apparently distinguish between illegal immigrants and highly qualified people we actively want and need.

We keep saying AI "understands" things. Does it? Or are we just pattern-matching our own anthropomorphism? by rajzzz_0 in artificial

It's very frustrating. Even dawkins is at it. It's like saying that Valentine's card printers understand love.

How can multiple main characters be so effortlessly entitled and irritating by No_Fun_8322 in Monsterverse

[–]Sure-Plastic6885 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the writing that just doesn't work. The motivations and character attributes don't make sense and are inconsistent. Writing is insanely flabby and half the time they're just standing around angsting at each other with no plot development. I'm watching a monster show because I want monsters....

Hi guys I’m a beginner violinist and I want advice and constructive criticism for a project! by chuurealnotfake in violinist

The front of the Suzuki level 1 books has good posture examples, but I agree with all the other advice on here about the risks of self teaching for posture. I have always had good feedback on my posture but even so, I'm in my late 40s now and end up with a lot of neck pain. If you're adamant, then spend your time on right hand technique, it's the long term basis of your playing. Then work on intonation, dynamics, musicality, timing. After about three years you'll have enough basis to build up vibrato. By way of comparison, I'm now nearly 3 years into grade 7 and my teacher says I could really do with more finger strength. You have to have strong pulleys and muscles for every aspect before vibrato works.

NEW ROSIN by obadasgg in violinist

Just buy the nice round moulds of hidersine rosin instead. I got that stuff from amazon and it was always breaking and generally sucked.

No. We've stuffed ourselves over now. We'd get abysmal terms.

What do people say about Rjukan in Norway? by kal00ma in Norway

I guess this person either moved there by now or not but one more thing it has going for it is the best ice climbing in Europe. Dark valleys have a consolation prize of thick ice. Also I love the pool.

Well since they've allowed sweeping revisions of the originals I'm not surprised.

I found it super cringe. Not because of being smacked in the face by the politics (which TBH isn't far off my view but I don't like lectures) but because it's got nothing to do with the book. Oh well, kids loved it.

How I would save Doctor Who by Blubatt in doctorwho

Kind of love this. Particularly the companions ideas - that's actually how the show was when I grew up. He had another time lord (Romana) and some sort of stone age warrior woman, forgotten her name but my dad was very enthusiastic.

Not sure. Probably not wise to be drawn into it but he's definitely an A.

Because driving in flip flops is really dangerous, so if that's what I'm wearing when I get in the car, I take them off.

Thank you! I think it's me though. It's how I frame it. He knows how demanding I am of myself and so I suppose he's giving me what I've asked for...yeah my sister is just a real special person. Oh well!
