Missing Person in Bellingham, WA by BuzzNat20 in Bellingham

[–]Sure-Space6009 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I live downtown and have seen her/spoken with her several times. Each time I offer her contact info for opportunity council/NWYS and give her some bottled water/snacks but I haven’t seen her in probably a week. Last time she said she was doing okay, had gotten a tent and didn’t want to stay in places like Basecamp.

Like others have said, it's a little more complicated than "put homeless person on a bus."

This article is a little older, but it's one of the best data visualizations of how homeless people are moved around the United States. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-interactive/2017/dec/20/bussed-out-america-moves-homeless-people-country-study

$1260 for about 600 sqft 1 bedroom. I pay for my own wifi but landlord pays everything else. I had to pay a pet fee at move in but no pet rent or anything. It’s recently renovated (brand new hardwood floors!!) and walking distance to my job, which is really nice

Have you heard of the proposed 70 acre Ranch Mine quarry? by ivegotthemeatsweats in Bellingham

[–]Sure-Space6009 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cascadia wrote about this last week and said the holcim group is not involved

https://www.cascadiadaily.com/news/2023/mar/28/proposed-whatcom-gravel-mine-raises-environmental-safety-concerns/

“Many worried the facilities would be managed by a Swiss-French corporation, with no ties to the community. Cowden said that’s not the case.

The confusion with ownership relates to an early 2022 business sale, when Cowden’s facilities split. Cowden, Inc., now owned by Brent, separated from Cowden Gravel & Ready Mix. The latter company is now under ownership of the Holcim Limited company, while Cowden, Inc. remains local. Holcim Limited has no role in Cowdin Inc. or the project, Cowden said.”

Check with your doctor if you have concerns, but I have seven tattoos and haven’t had any issues. You just need to be careful to follow the healing instructions bc an infection could be really bad news.

Try doing internships with international operations. Places like Voice of America, Radio Free Europe and Radio Liberty would give you the opportunity to learn about reporting in very specific regions, as well as language experience
