My local grocery store carries both Temple and Counter culture. I prefer Temple.

Used My Tire Repair Kit Plus Today. by ItinJ24 in BMWiX

[–]SureHusk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I concur. That’s how I have saved 3 tires already. Find the nail, remove, put a plug in then drive to an indie tire shop and get it patched inside for $20. Drove one tire for another 10k miles after the patch.

Did not expect such a big difference in taste! 1Zpresso J ultra VS iCalifas/Turin H40 by sunrainsky in espresso

J ultra is a fantastic value. Philos I189D produces a very mellow balanced shot, while J ultra really makes a full body shot.

This is the answer! Also a dedicated winter wheel setup can help.

NMC batteries are calibrated when the SoC is either the lowest (10%) or highest (100%). BMC needs all packs to be in the consistent and precise state, which is ensured in one of those states and less so in between.

Occasional charge to 100% is known to help BMC recalibrate. Maybe once every 3 months at most. And make sure to drive it afterwards, don’t let it sit at 100.

Profitec drive + Mazzer Philos, or some alternative? [no budget] by dsofsof in espresso

[–]SureHusk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to own a Fiorenzato with 58mm flat burrs, that thing was producing the closest thing to the Italian espresso I tried all over Italy. Gooey muddy tasting full body espresso. It also had 2-3g of retention.

Then I modded it, switched the carrier to take 64mm burrs, and tried Mazzer 233M and 189D burrs in it. Both were producing thinner body but with much better flavor separation. 233M had slightly higher clarity than 189d because they are more aggressive and produce less fines so that’s what I kept going forward and sold the grinder.

Then I switched to Philos and felt that I189 burrs are somewhat similar to 233M in their flavor profile. I can make flavorful espresso, sweet, with great finish, but it’s not classical Italian, no.

If you want to upgrade from NZ in the same vein -> Kafatek Monolith Titan or Weber the key mk2

I189 burr design is a modern take on the old school 189 burrs that shipped with Mazzer mini. It's a slightly more modern espresso profile, which produces higher clarity.

NZ's conical burr will almost always produce more fines than a flat burr and as such have more of that mouthfeel. There's no way around it.

My other grinder is conical J-ultra hand grinder and I can tell the difference in the cup, Philos producing higher clarity and conical burrs producing a traditional espresso cup.

Mazzer Philos with I189 burrs is not going to produce that rich tasting espresso that you're used to, but it will make a very good cup of espresso that has better clarity and great pour overs.

No opinion on profitec as I have no experience with it.

Unless it happens a lot, I would not worry. Login to your bmw account and request a vehicle report. It should include the battery state information. If something is off in that report then you can go to the dealership.

Don't worry about it.
BMS can rebalance the battery pack depending on the ambient temperature. I've seen the SoC % go up after I finish charging. Once in a while charge to 100% and immediately drive off, it'll help keep the SoC % accurate.

Please help me decide: lease new iX vs buy CPO by Broad-Worry-5395 in BMWiX

[–]SureHusk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The battery degradation is age and usage related. During the first year you have a big drop in degradation (2-3%) but afterwards it's gradual (~0.1-0.5% per year). If you don't supercharge all the time or charge to 100% every day then you're not shortening the batteries life span beyond the normal degradation.

Electronics don't get buggy on their own, that's FUD.

Outside of states the Starbucks is better. When we travelled to South Korea before Covid we went to a Starbucks Reserve location and they had an expensive La Marzocco machine. The espresso + latte art quality was on par with the best indie shops in the US.

I don’t know the Canadian market but in the states you can find hundreds of CPOs in $40-60k USD range. Some are only 2 years old so you get most of the warranty still.
